nascar>f1? wtf
-
they are professional drivers dont get me wrong. I just hate how nascar gets so much media coverage. Right tjamz, i remember how speed channel used to be. I just think f1 cars are the ultimate race cars. i mean 3 liter engines getting 700 plus horsepower revving at 19,000 rpm its just amazing to me. I dunno nascar is a totally different motor, car chassis you name it from f1 so your right you really cant compare. i just like one more than the other

Ok, I'll stick up for NASCAR:
-
Nobody dominates NASCAR (coughSchumachercough), they should just start the season by giving him the title.
-
Can't remember the last time NASCAR fucked over the ENTIRE crowd, by allowing a tire manufacturer to pull EVERY car that they sponsor out of the race. If I remember correctly, 14 didn't race, leaving 8 left. Wow, 8 whole cars. Wow.
-
To all the haters, you can talk big, but you prolly wouldn't last if you had to race for 2-3 hours staight, even if it's only in an oval.

The reason Nascar gets so much media coverage is because it's America's sport. No offense, but America is a self-centered country. Only the goods toward us are being telecast here. For example, World Cup Soccer, and Tour de France. Nobody knew the US women's soccer team and Mia Hamm, until 1998 World Cup. Have we heard of anything about the men's team? Before Lance Armstrong, nobody in America really gives a crap about cycling. F1 will get more attention, when Scott Speed, an American who is currently a test driver for Team Redbull actually race and win.

you dont think the heart rate of a guy driving a car at 190 mph rubbing the rear bumper of another guy for several hours isnt skyrocketing?same shit different vehicle
i enjoy watching both but i think its ignorat to say that f1 drivers are better than everyone else
190mph and making only left turns is different than 190mph, down shift from 6th to 2th to 40mph thru an S turn. Driving and F1 car is like piloting a jet fighter. The amound of G-force(usually 4 times your body weight) on their body is tremendous. It is an obvious that F1 drivers are the best in the world, people usually starts out with kart, then move to stock cars, F3, F2, then finally F1. The skills required to drive a $14million dollars vehicle is different than $200k vehicle.

Well then you go move over there and tell us how much american news from sporting events here you get over there. no way in hell do they keep you up to date with american sports in europe, so why should we be kept up to date with their sports, which we arent.I for one, do not care, watch, keep up on F1. I know a lot more about NASCAR then I do about F1. Which is why i agreed with nascar>f1. Show me all the footage in the world from over in Europe, but I dont care. Sure I watched like 30 minutes of the Indy 500 cause it was on and its a big race. But I dont get all hyped up over a race. Give me NASCAR any day of the week.

Just because I feel like arguing with Ethan for a change...:p

Jeff Gordon did a few years back...maybe not DOMINATE but definately had the Rainbow Racing team in a position to win lots of races. Besides, ferrari isn't dominating this year in F1.
-
I don't know if they "allowed" it to happen so much as the tire manufacturer decided their tires weren't of high enough quality to allow them to run on the track. There were six cars...1 of the fastest and one of the slowest teams decided to run, Ferrari and the Rolling Chicane known as Manardi. One of the dumbest rules that F1 put in was the no tire change rule (ok, you can change ONE tire the whole race) and the you have to race 2 races on each motor....GAY.
-
This coming from a guy that races for 9 seconds at a time....just kidding, I know I couldn't run a NASCAR race, you're right about that...I'd probably get dizzy, lol. I'm not saying that any racing is easy, I know its not easy to run 9's in a car or bike that is still "street legal", I know that dirt track racing isn't east, neither is Rally, NASCAR, Champ, Touring, Drifting, F1, Indy, Kart, etc... I just don't like watching cars drive in circles all day. I don't really even like watching them go in straight lines all that much, which is why if I'm not racing I usually don't go to the track.

their with the mega sponsors, giving millions of dollars to nascar.
call it a hick sport all you want, but the NASCAR marketers are sheer genius at its finest and definately know how to promote the races.

Once SUBARU participates ;).

Michael Schumacher is the highest paid athlete in the world by a pretty large margin. He gets paid more than Manardi has for a budget. NASCAR has what Americans want, no doubt...Sheer HP and lots of wrecks....kinda like bullriding, everyone cheers for the bull.

tin your an american too...vietnam doesnt even make race cars! lol
I know I am an American, I'm just saying how bad the media is. Vietnam is too poor to race cars, but they do race crotch rockets and mopeds :). But I knew about cycling, soccer, and F1 before I was kicked out of the country.

International ties does that for you. He wouldn't make nearly of that if he was born in America and not in Germany.

just realized something....this is one of the best car/racing discussions we've had on fargostreet in a long time.......and its in the "Run your mouth" section...lol

I dont get it, you say hes the best driver in the world. but he doesnt even dominate his own sport?
Thats why i like american sports alot better then any foreign sport. Their funner to watch, we know the athletes, and we know what they can do. Foreign sports certianly do not excell over here and frankly, im glad.
