I feel that was more in the eyes of the people into imports that it gave more positive publicity, among the majority of the united states, I feel, people don't like the imports that do stuff or look like the cars are from the movie, hold a neighborhood meeting and bring it up, ask the officers in town, ask the people on this website, imports have a lot of bad publicity compared to Domestics. I hang out there to hang out with other car people. Back to the movie, this movie series is an import series, if a mustang stars in it, I will boycotte it. I will not spend money on it. If it's an import based movie, I'll rent it. If they made Bullitt 2 it would not be the same if they used a civic and a tiburon for the chase. Or similarly, a ferrari and a lamborgini. The point is it's not the movie series's demographic.

The bad publicity comes from all these kids who feel they need to race every living thing on a public road. I hate the fact that I can't even go to the local grocery store without somebody reving up on me.

Very seldom do I ever see that from a domestic, muscle car.

Well it doesnt matter what an idiot is driving, he is going to be an idiot. To stereotype everything to the fast and furious is ludacris. If we all drove domestics, there still would be stupid shit that goes on. Then we could compare it to some stupid domestic movie.

In the 80s, the Dukes of Hazzard got blamed for young punks jumping their Novas and Colts over houses and bridges and blowing up barns with flaming arrows. Same shit, different generation

However, the Fast and Furious helps to create more idiots. This isn't really a domestic vs. imoprt dispute. It all stems from the same place.

It all stems from the same place. The whole dispute is that the movie helped out the scene. You can not blame a movie for idiots. There are plenty of movies with fast cars and people doing stupid shit. I am not seeing anyone blaming menace to society for the murders that happen.

I just think that the way the movie is presented makes it more appealing to the younger crowd which leads to people doing stupid shit. I am not completely blaming the movie, but it does put quite a few ideas in the head. I didn't see a single non-sponsored car with graphics prior to the movie. Nor did I see an alluminum touring wing on ever other car. I just think that the fast and furious movies are very influential.

So being a ricer automatically makes you do stupid shit on the road?not necessarily, but you have to admit a good number of ricers are idiots on the road.
All I am saying is that movie has a lot of influence over the younger generation. I am not saying that it is to blame, but I bet atleast 75% of the people 23 and under who are in the sport compact scene now never knew there was a scene before the movie. Now that they do know they insist on trying to race you from stop light to stop light no matter what the traffic is like just because the movie glamorizes it.
