This does sound like a big time show. Not used to this kind of stuff in Fargo. Where are the models from?Models will be from Fargo, Grand Forks, Canada, and Bismarck.... I assure this is a different 'caliber' modeling expo as compared to the past events...

Guess we're out, haha, damn it!!We'll all just be biased against anyways like every time before so prolly just save the $50.
Nick,
I don't know where the biased comment comes from. Shane specifically stated to Alissa that we all hope to see your car at the show, because in the area, your car helps set the elite standard. If you must push the limits of what is allowed, then yes you will have to pay more than normal entries that respect the fact that we put down the $5000+ for this show, not you or SLS. We love competition and competition keeps all of the shops in town with high standards. One individual misunderstood the email he recieved from Shane, and now everyone wants to know if they can have a competitors shops name from tip to tip on a car. Respect those that are helping the scene and funding this show and everything should be fine. You want your name all over a show, then you need to foot the bill for the show... We will have a great turn out, and the preentries are confirming this, we would like everyone from Roadsounds, SLS, Type R, Autowerx to come and bring their best. If everyone would settle down and let me respond I can inform everyone that the tintmasters has no say in the judging, as the judging is placed in the hands of someone else. Our employee shop cars are not in the show for trophies either. So that means that more than likely the majority of the trophies will go to cars that were built elsewhere than tintmasters. We want to make this an annual event, and making all the 'tintmasters cars' win will deter ANYONE from traveling or spending the money next year. With all this being said, Nick if you choose to not come, your car will be missed, but the show will be a big success with or without you.

Ok, thanks for clarifying Jason. I can see your point that you don't want HUGE ASS decals slapped on the day before just for the sake of advertising another shop. Makes sense.
Tufte, I know you think you will be not judged fairly, but I will say this about working with Shane as a judge in the past (devils run): He was the one that first suggested you should win the "non-wild" aftermarket paint, I didn't have a single word to say in that matter (I pulled myself from voting on that one actually). I think Shane is also smart enough to realize that if he blatantly overlooks worthy cars for lesser ones in the awarding of trophies that people will quit coming to the shows which would be a bad business decision. I'd love to see the SLS built cars at this show, just like I'd like to see the Tintmasters cars, Roadsounds cars, Type-R Motorsports cars, etc..... I personally think that the rules, as Jason has explained them, make sense. There may be exceptions to the rules that will have be hashed out, but if everyone works together on this instead of just assuming it will/will not be allowed it should be very smooth.
PS. I think you're lying Jason, I didn't see no stinking astroid

We are going to debut the new race car look of the integra the night before in Sioux Falls @ the racetrack. Hopefully thats allowed in the show.

Oh, I should mention that Veritas Racing will be handing out a "True Pick" award at this show as well. This is not necessarily a best of show type trophy. This is the car that we as a group have decided is a very well built car and is done with the idea of being true to the sport in which it was designed (might be a show car, might be a full out drag car, might be a drift car, might be an auto-x car.... whatever strikes us as the "truest" car).
For those that want to know what the trophy looks like, you can see the one Tufte won at Devils Run by stopping by SLS or you can see the one that Shane received by stopping by Tintmasters.
They were won for different reasons. Nick's car was chosen based on the fact that he was addressing nearly every avenue of modification (ICE, Suspension, Paint, Motor, Etc..)
Shane was chosen not for his cars, but for his commitment to the import community. It was a way for our club to say thank you for putting on these shows. Thank you for sponsoring race days. Thank you for setting up auto-x in eastern ND. Yeah, and his cars are pretty nice as well.
Who will win the next one? I haven't a clue, the only people I know it won't be is the members of Veritas Racing (we can't award them to ourselves now can we?) It might be you!

My car is a daily driver (except when its ripped apart) but everyone thinks im trying to build some big bad show car, if that was the case i would have done things a lot differently and a lot more gawdy just for the sake of winning car shows. Shit i got door dings, i got paint chips, but thats the sacrifice of driving something ona daily basis. But thats ok, it will never run again, im turning it into a big bad drag car instead!!
IDK where you got the line of it'll be a success w/ or w/o me from, i haven't even registered. Is it ok if it's gotta be pushed in cuz if it does run it'll probably be blown up by then because i wanted to see what the limits of the motor were :-).

Best of luck to you.See, thats the thing i build more race car based vehicles and they dont exactly fit in all that well @ car shows. Is there possibly a category more performance based vehicles then show vehicles? Cuz i know i'd like to display Jeremy's Talon and Nick's integra but they aren't exactly show cars, but they do show a lot of the performance based aspect of this industry which is what most of us are more interested in as well.

SLSI see what you are saying, but like at HIN there isn't a stock looking car that has a whole bunch of performance parts.... There is cars like your IS, lots of performance parts, but show looks as well. The more appropriate place to 'show off' a performance style vehicle is at a drag strip (NOPI nationals, DSM Shootout, etc...). We may have a performance category, but it will take a vehicle that has the rest of the car complete with the performance to win it. Once again, WE are not voting so Nick and Jeremy can enter any cars, and can compete, I just don't want everyone that enters a super bad @$$ engine bay/performance car to feel disappointed if the judges don't place those vehicles......

Why does it have to be like every other show? Originality is always nice. Cars like GSR's, Jeremy's, Dave's, Matt's, etc. are not beauty queens, they dont have body kits, taili light conversions, or big flashy paint jobs, but they are a big role in the industry. From what i've seen based on a lot of shows lately, the big gawdy riced out cars are not winning the shows anymore, its the clean cars w/ performance based aspects that are winning.
-
Gotta be innovators not immatators! Obviously HIN/SCN have worked but why not mix it up a little and throw some different things in there. Open up some new classes. I know the already have best engine bay, but for example, best race car, most powerful car, most creative car, etc...
When i go to a car show i spend the most time looking @ the engine bay, the fabrication, and details/dyno graphs. I could really care less about the disgusting body kit and nasty graphics they have plastered all over the car. IMO a nice clean well put together car take the cake over some riced out gawdy show car. The best part is half the time those cars have stock engine bays...

its a shame HIN and SCN pick 2 winners and those guys go home with about 6 trophies each.
thats when it got gay.

I think thats how it should be though. It's not a kindergarden contest of fairness. If a select few vehicles outdo the rest in each given category they deserve mulitple awards. I hate when you go to shows and they hand out awards to mulitple vehicles to be fair even though they were certain ones who outdid them but they already had an award.

yea but a gay focus and whatever else dominated @ HIN? atleast pick something that isn't completely endorsed by a dominating name brand and taking away any chances that your avg civilian car can win.im not a fan of seeing magazine featured cars being at shows, then gettin the win cause they were in a mag and have thousands upon thousands of dollars put into them. theyre alright to see up close, but when theyre only used to unload/load onto a trailer inside the arena, kinda takes away the "car" part of it. car show cars should be anything thats daily driven/driven to car shows, clean cut, if its gonna have graphics make it a clean-not overly done graphic, engine bay matching the cars, performance mods, ICE etc. not some shell rolled around in a trailor that was in Import Tuners and can afford to put up a 3 thousand dolllar display that surrounds the car to make it even more cooler. im not all up on that, even tho i knwo there wont be any of those at this tint masters show.

I just enter my car, b.s. with everyone else, and talk about cars.
drama sucks.
