That is why it has specific books for country regions, trade in value, loan value, retail value, every vehicle option available, and vehicle specific milage deduction charts. This is also the reason they are updated monthly=to cover depreciation.
..but your probably right, they just print books for shits and giggles all the while laughing at people/businesses who consult them.
If you were to go to a dealer(not unlike my father) and you told him you wanted 6k for it, he would look up your vehicle and even low ball the loan value so good luck. Private party selling is your best bet to recoup expenses though.
Ill give ya 2200 for it by the way.

if exaccord is right - $3600 for private party...
...you will probably shit a brick when you find out what a dealership will give you on trade for it ha ha.

Premier auto would sell it for 7500, i asked him seein how i also work for him. they would give me 4000 on trade in. they looked over the vehicle and the interior is in perfect condition, the body has a fey scratches and minor dents. I would trade it in but they dont have the car i want(240SX). plus i know if it is in the paper for 6 it will sell that day.
