lol Canada pays almost PER litre as much as we do PER gallon. And what the Gov't has to do with Hurricane Katrina totally demolishing our main rigs, i have no idea.

Liberal idiots, let me guess, Bush started Katrina cause his brother Jeb(florida gov) didnt build enough buildings/add ontot he state to actually slow down katrina when it blew through it last week.

America has it so much easier then the rest of the world in terms of gas. Just dont kick it down everytime...and you wont need to fill up as much.

where the hell did you get your numbers??? canada pays about $1.00 CAN per liter. and the UK pays about $5.60 per gallon in US dollars. where the hell did you come up with $9 a gallon!?>? HERE is where I got my information. and something rotten is afoot regarding gas prices in the US, becaue while ours have doubled, actually trippled almost in the last decade, UK';s has onlt gone from about $4.50/gal to $5.60/gal.

I will blame most of the gas prices on shrub. OPEC says its not a supply problem, the gas prices are high because of POLITICAL reasons. just wait 10 yrs, the truth will come out, lol

EDIT: summer 2001, I remember gas being under 1.00/gallon. I KNOW this because my English roommate made a point of taking a photo of it and mailing it back to his parents in London, who were then paying the equivelant of $4.50/gal.

anyways, if its 1.00 canadian per litre, i dunno what the currency exchange rate is now, but itd be over 3.50 american per gallon if you lived in canada.

i think we need to open up our national oil reserves...yeah i know blah blah blah thats only for states of emergencies but wtf is this? just a test?! this is what the reserves are for dont ya think? I mean not to drop the prices to 1.50 or anythin but just cushion the blow a little bit and maybe keep em at around 2.40 or so and maybe itll even cut down on our demand and lower the prices since we wont be buying so much middle eastern oil...anyone else think that it might help to do this?

At first I did it for fun, then I realized I made the investment and had to do it!

depending on where you get your money exchanged it could be as low as $31.50 at 63% which is what most restaurants give for a conversion.

I don't blame Bush for the Hurricane, but I do think he could be doing more to control gas prices. Perhaps tap into the reserve....it was put there for a reason.

The above sounds like the typical right wing agenda of putting words into the mouths of those that they don't agree with. I don't think you're going to find anyone (liberal/conservative/other) that will blame Bush for the Hurricane, but you have to admit, when oil companies are seeing record profits year after year that they could maybe keep the prices lower than what they are. You also realize that oil companies don't pay the $70/barrel that is being sold in the futures market, right? The futures is for Texas Sweet Crude Oil which is about the best you can get, the oil companies often use Carolina Sweet Crude and other "lesser" oils for gasoline and its cost is significantly less than what the futures market shows. Ever notice that race gas isn't going up, or at least not as fast as pump gas?

Ok, enough of me ripping on the Neo-Cons, now its time for me to bitch about the Liberals. In reality the Democratic Party is as responsible for high gas prices as is the Republicans. How? Well, by limiting when/where/how the oil may be extracted they are putting a limit on the available supply. That and the California Air Regulatory Board (CARB) has set a precedent for states to be able to decide what blend of gasoline is sold there. As a result of the numerous regulations placed on the sale of gasoline, there are a great variety of blends of gasoline sold across the country. These blends of gasoline, known as "boutique" fuels, place a great strain on the production and distribution of gasoline because these different blends often cannot be used in more than one region. If we want fuel prices to go down, perhaps the states/regions should adopt a uniform fuel blend for the entire country. Whats wrong with an 87 Octane, 89 Octane, 92 Octane and then the ethanol blends (E-10 and E-85). Just come up with a formula that is universally accepted and go with it I say.

BTW, the skipping one day idea will never work...well, it COULD work, but you'd need EVERY person (semi drivers, taxi drivers, airplanes, etc....) to not fuel their vehicles on that day. In other words, impossible.

Its NOT a supply problem. OPEC has been ramping up supply and its not lowering our gas prices. Its caused by POLITICAL factors, mainly war and scares of terrorism. well, thats the official word anyway. Its mainly the fat oil tycoons making a killing out of our pockets. Im a firm beleiver that when bush leaves office, it will go down.

call me a liberal, call me a nutcase, call me what you will, I really could care less. Im fed up with this administration and all of its lies and BS.

Gas will be $3.00 a gallon by monday, mark my words. those fucks jack up the price of gas EVERY year during the labor day weekend because they KNOW the american public will be traveling and using a lot of gas. It always drops after. And the gov't is wasting time for with microsoft on anti-trust lawsuites.

                                "$4.12/gal up in Winnipeg"

Will their gas also go down when Bush is out of office?

I'm not a conservative by any means, I'm actually a far left liberal with some conservative views, but the arguement that gas will drop when Bush leaves is pretty dumb.

is that canadian or american? because even when we were paying $1.00 a gallon 4 years ago, they were still paying like $2.50 a gallon american.

and also, when we were paying $1.00/gal, the UK was paying $4.50/gal, now we're paying $2.80/gal and they are paying $5.60/gal.

you tell me why everyone elses prices haven't trippled, and only ours have.

btw, $4.12/gal in CAD is about $3.20/gal USD

barely any oil is drilled in this area because the taxes on it are so high the oil companies can buy gas elsewhere and import it for less than drilling in area like ND. i used to go to montana 2 times a year until last year and slowly have watched the oil booms(or what ever the right word for them is) stop running. the people my dad works with have lots of relative in that area and they all say the same thing they just got shut down because of cost

barely any oil is drilled in this area because the taxes on it are so high the oil companies can buy gas elsewhere and import it for less than drilling in area like ND. i used to go to montana 2 times a year until last year and slowly have watched the oil booms(or what ever the right word for them is) stop running. the people my dad works with have lots of relative in that area and they all say the same thing they just got shut down because of cost

Well, the other problem w/ ND oil is that it has a very high sulfur content and is not easily converted into gasoline (READ: It costs more money to refine).

i know it is costly to pump in this area I was just curious as to where our oil comes from up here. Do we get ours hauled all the way up from the gulf or do we get it from another source. If we get it from the gulf its not really a surprise the prices just went up a buhjillion dollars

Getcher green hat, we are goin fishin.
