Thoughts on "Pefect 10" show
-
I thought the show was great, a different pace then alot of the car shows around the area and it was well put togeater for being the first indoor tintmasters show. The show did get a little long, but i am sure it will be better every year when they get everything worked out. once again great job on the show Shane and everyone from Tintmasters

I helped judge this show and while my personal tastes where for Scotts Mitsu, he just didn't score enough points (on my sheet or any of the other judges). Having the engine bay a diff color cost the 3000 a few points, but he made up for them elsewhere. Not much else I can say.hey chuck, i thought judges had judging sheet they go by and had nothing to do with "personal tastes"? woudlnt that be kinda favoring cars that you feel is tastefully modded?
congrats to all the winners. to tony espeacially!

I think you are confused...Chuck stated that while his personal tastes were in favor of the Eclipse, he gave the 3000gt more points, therefore overriding his personal taste. -

You are correct, judging did have score sheets, I should have been more clear. The only section that I could have any sort of personal opinion added was the "Overall Appearance" category. Everything else was based on cleanliness/display/ICE/Performance Mods/Exterior Mods/Interior Mods/Custom Paint or Graphics/Clean Paint/and one more category I can't think of off the top of my head.
Advice to anyone who is going to have their car judged by me: I check 2 wheel wells and under the sideskirts for dirt. If I find dirt in any of those areas I deduct points from the cleanliness section. Seriously, 95% of the cars had CHUNKS of dirt up in their wheel wells.

I'd try my best to completely forget what everyone elses car looked like in a given category and just go by how I'd rate looks on a scale of 1 to 10. I never did an A/B comparison when figuring in points. Always went SOLELY on how the vehicle in front of me scored on the criteria I had to judge. In other words, I judged the cars then forgot everything about them.

If Chuck would have had his way, mark would not have won best of show so i know that he did not go on his own taste but with points only. I do have one question though Chuck, yes i thought your wrx deserved the 1st place subaru, but iwht 3 of you judging, and then tallying your score and going with the average or whatever, how could you fairly judge your own car to get to that average, just a thought. not bashing you or your car, just curious how it all worked.

i got one question. where did that 3000gt gather enough points to beat me? I'm over losing to him because i crushed him at scn but i'm still curious. i realize i dont have a system right now,but neither does he. his car came turbod mine didnt. i have a nice paint job with a full very nice body kit, he had a cool paint job but yeah... he had nice wheels and so do i. i have an awesome set of coilovers and a big brake kit, and i have no clue what he has. i have katzkin and dyed interior he had sparcos. i'm not talking smack about this guy cuz his car is cool yes but i'm just confused on me not getting enough points in order to beat him where i have just as much stuff if not more and all of mine is done very nicely and he has a couple of errors in the car. again im not saying my car is the best i just want to know how and where he beat me.

I think you should have won scott

The whole car show crowd reminds me of elementary school when kids didn't get picked for the football team, baseball team, etc... Get over it, there will always be someone better, there will always be someone w/a nicer car, etc.. Losing should make you bring your car up to a higher quality in the future.
If someone wants they can have my trophy if it makes them feel any better.

I liked the carbon fiber evo for best Mitsu.....I didnt see the 3000gt......so I dont konw if I woulda liked it or not

i absolutely got my ass handed to me in the nissan class but shit it is just motivation for next year...im gonna try to come back big next year...no more messing around
hahascott, you do have a really nice car and i didnt really look at the 3kgt because it didnt really do anything for me cause the motor was pretty much stock but just think if you dont have a stereo thats a few points you are easily missing out on...who knows you coulda lost by 1 point...you just dont know...and it could have come down to the stereo or something like that...

I know guys that put on the Autovations show and the Sport Compact Nights show and they've all asked me whats up w/ the Fargo guys complaining when they dont win? So its obviously becoming a repeated issue and maybe their just not up to the level the judges think they need to be to win, i really dont know as im not a judge.

a little off subject but here's a few more pics of us models... some might be the same as alissa's but yea i thought i'd post em...

I was not saying that chuck cheated to win or anything like that, i just think and i belive that a lot of people will be on my side that judges should not judge their own cars in a show because i know of a lot of people thinking bad stuff when judges cars win. Not everyone knows how people judge their own car.

and i know you werent saying chuck was cheating at all...cause i completely understand where you are comin from...but in this case chuck is about as honest and fair as they come

I scored my car hard, probably too hard as I think I had it rated around 2nd place in its class...but I was more concerned about being fair than winning.
Scott (I'm going off memory here so bare with me) I think you need some ICE and a few more interior mods (I know you have Katskin already). Exterior/Paint/Overall/Clean/etc.. you scored well. If I remember right it was DAMN close between you two. I really like your car and the route you've gone. IMHO the only things left are a system and interior mods (custom kickpanels to go along with a new system would be an improvement even and could count as points in two categories). To set yourself apart in the show scene I think you need to do custom type mods. Not the typical off the shelf type stuff.
As for me not wanting to give the best of show to Mark, that is partially true. I personally liked Tony Swartz's car better. That is not a stab at Mark, I'm pretty sure everyone on here knows what my complaints are about his car. If you don't, just do a search of Oddens Rod Shop on this forum and read my comments. They were the only 2 cars in attendance that deserved it in my opinion. I PERSONALLY liked Tony's better, BUT it was a car show and I'll give you all one guess who's car generally had a larger crowd looking at it. Bright Orange Paint, Lambo Doors, Custom Graphics....how can that not get noticed? He did what it took for him to win this show. I voiced my reasoning for Tony to the judges and they convinced me otherwise and I agreed with them in the end it was unanimous.
