The SVX is a heavy car isn't it? They are cool looking though an older guy in town here has one with 30k original on it. And yes the older Imprezzas are alot nicer to look at than the newer ones. No dis, intended.

Yes, I am the guy w/ the White Auto from the TM car show. As for how fast I'm going now....best 1/4 mile = 13.2 (8.4 1/8 mile on that run)...best 1/8 mile 8.125 last weekend in Harvey.

Kinda of a hybrid, Turbo XS DP, Perrin UP, TurboXS MP (Custom welded very nice worK) and Prodrive catback. 16 G turbo with stock IC for now 🙂 modded the injectors to flow heavier and a very nicely tuned UTEC.

NOTE: Turned out my rings were shot, but god bless it, SUBARU IS ACTUALLY GOING TO WARRANTY IT, first time for everything 🙂

you mean the motor swap and stroker kit...gotta do some pracs studies before I can get to that point, but you can expect it within the next 2 years. In the meantime, do you know anyone that has a set of heads? The valves can be bent as long as the head itself can be salvaged. I want to have a set of heads ported & polished this winter, but I want to be w/o my car for only a minimal amount of time. My understanding, and you might know better than I, is that an ej20 ej22 or ej25 head will work equally well on the ej20 block, so I'd imagine there has to be some heads floating around in the junkyards, even in this state.

For those of you who aren't familiar w/ my plans, I plan on getting a closed deck 2.2 liter block and stroking it to 2.7 liters...then run a t66 or bigger turbo. As previously stated, I need to get some extra $$$$ before I can even think about this. Though I do have a line on a shortblock from a 22B for a reasonable price

sounds like a monster, i cant wait!

regarding the heads...2.5L ej25 heads are SOHC unless you go to the 98RS heads but 98RS engines have headgasket problems...plus im not certain they are aluminum like the DOHC ej20 heads. The ej25 STi heads would be and those are DOHC but harder to find and would cost more. Theres nothing wrong w/ the DOHC ej20 heads...Just send them to COBBtuning and get them ported and polished!

also are these heads going to be used primarily for this project?

If so why source an expensive 2.2 semi closed deck from a 22b when Cobb sells reinforced fully closed 2.5L decks?...then either use ej20 ported and polished heads...possibly check out 22b heads i have a feeling something is different about them that makes them better than 2.2L Legacy Turbo heads, or 2.5L STi heads

                        Just a $0.02

The heads are going to be for both projects actually. As for the 22b, lets just say the price is right and I have a cousin in Japan that would ship it for me.

I guess I didn't realize the 22b was semi-closed, I thought it was a full closed deck, you'd know more than I would on that though.

The other option (if the 22b block doesn't work out) is to get an ej22t out of a early 90's twin turbo legacy and build it, as I am "almost" certain that it is fully-closed. Again, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

The main reason I don't go w/ a Cobb built motor is primarily because of the $$$$$ involved with their products. Now, I have no doubts about their abilities to make HP and their attention to detail, but I feel I can get a better overall deal by piecing together the components I want and having it assembled by a local mechanic.

ok thats what i was wondering...the Cobb motor is the way to go but if cost is a big deal then go w/ the 22b, its an STi block so it will be reinforced aluminum. It should be stronger than the Legacy turbo motor...thus making it easier and cheaper to build up! If you can get the heads from the 22b that would be best otherwise ej20 heads will work fine!
