Just wondering but how did you see a cop every other block? Most of the force was at the dome today for the meth tool box thing. Trust me, i was there, tons of cop cars. And cops.

Heres the deal, if a car is loud it SHOULD get pulled over, regardless of country of origin/age/style of vehicle. We've beaten this to death on here already. The ONLY thing I want in writing from the cop is what makes an exhaust illegal. Is any aftermarket exhaust illegal? My interpretation of his email to me is that yes it is by his standards. Which is total BS. I want clarity, so far all I've gotten is more confusion.

Again, IF A CAR IS LOUD IT SHOULD GET TICKETED. BUT if we have a buffer for alcohol consumption and driving (for example, most people can pass a sobriety test after having 1 or 2 beers) there must be some sort of leniency for exhaust upgrades, because last I checked a loud exhaust never killed anyone, but consuming one drink can and does slow your reflexes a bit.

no stats here, but do you have any stats that they are profiling.......or do you believe everything you read in the paper

do they pull over every one that speeds? I am sure its not that big of a priority, it is just another excuse to pull you over/make quota

fortunately they probably won't have to deal with us speed racers for about 4-5 months as its getting colder out now and a lot of us are putting them in storage.

maybe by spring the majority of this will have calmed down and be in the back of everyones mind.

what is a good exhaust that will sound good and be farely quiet, for my 240, but not be a total $$$ killer

No, I deserve a ticket for my exhaust. It's loud. I just don't want people to get tickets just because they have an exhaust and isn't loud.

I disagree. (there's a surprise eh?). When the cops have all the serious crimes under control and have nothing better to do that pull someone over for a exhaust then I'd agree. But when there are meth labs to bust, child sex offenders running around, etc etc then they better get after that stuff rather than a silly exhaust ticket that just wastes their time and ours. Their job is to "protect and serve" not "fart around and waste time".

Oh, I agree with that whole heartedly, but that isn't the primary function of a traffic cop. What you described is more in lines with Detectives and DEA agents. The officers that we have patrolling fargo are probably not likely to be involved with a whole lot of drug busts unless it is in a moving vehicle. Yes, they may follow up on leads from the public, but in reality they don't have a clue what is really going on w/ drugs or whatever. Yeah, they know meth is bad. They might even know of a few users. However I doubt they know the bigger dealers/suppliers for the area.

The unfortunate part of policing the drug scene is that a lot of times the small time dealers are not arrested immediately when there is proof, they always want to wait for the major supplier...in the mean time there are more and more people getting hooked on this stuff because the known dealer isn't being stopped.

Traffic cop? Fargo has police officers devoted to just traffic stops? That has to be the biggest waste of taxpayers money that there is.... Get them working on serious crime, hell even shoplifting, etc....

Well, for the most part that is what most cops are paid to do is police/control traffic and provide assistance/manpower on raids/busts. I agree, there are more productive things they could do, BUT most are not trained to be full detectives. I personally think that Fargo has about 5 too many cops patrolling at any one given time, but being the conservative state that ND is, we like to give the appearance of safety and protection and therefore we pay our cops to issue traffic tickets.
