Thoughts on Wal Mart

This is what I am talking about. I have hated going there because it is such a pain in the ass to deal with all the dumb fucking people who shop there.....yet I save money buying shit there so it kind of evens out. -
I was unemployed for a long time, and when I could barely afford things I went to Walmart. It made sense because my money simply was able to get me more things, and I only have to drive about 1/2 mile to get there so I saved on gas. I saw a documentary that aired on PBS about Walmart, and I decided I wanted to stop shopping there. After I got a job again and could afford to be a bit less picky, I swore off of Walmart. Fuck them.

i love walmart....here in Apple Valley anyways. The reason you guys hate walmart in Fargo and Moorhead could due to the management. The wal mart here in AV is awsome, I go in there, grap what I need, then go to the self check out. But then again, the wal mart in AV is one of the top five in the world or country.......

walmart sucks....EVERYTHING they sell is inferior, its junk, i haven't bought one thing from walmart that was worth what i paid for it. I got a friend that bought handgun ammunition there and half of it misfired.....i hate walmart(and yet i still go there)all I want to say is, if you have that much of a problem with their products or your friend does, like their ammunition, talk to the district manager, I know one personally because I'm dating his son. they've always bought their ammunition there, and never had a problem with it.... if there's a problem, bring it back and tell them about it, ask to talk to a manager, how easy is that to do?

Ok, I do shop at walmart on occassion (sorry tony) but here is the reason why:
If I need (for example) socks, underwear, a toaster, car wash supplies, milk, pop, cereal, and bread I don't want to go to 2 or 3 stores and stand in line for 3 minutes at each one. I'd just as soon do all my shopping in one place and then stand in line for 9 minutes, in the long run I'm saving time by not having to run to target, bergs, and hornbachers. HOWEVER I won't go to walmart just to grocery shop, I live way to close to Sunmart and Hornbachers to justify that...heck I've been known to go to Holiday as its 1/2 block closer. I also won't go there just for socks or underwear (Kmart nearby too). Same for car cleaning supplies, I'll go to fleet farm or Bergs for that.
I do like the look & feel of the new walmart store, doesn't feel as trashy as it used to and it feels more "Homey" with the lower shelving and new aesthetics.
Don't get me wrong, Walmart is a ruthless, money hungry, cut-throat organization who often carries inferior product lines....but their stocks have traditionally done well because of this.

Yes Walmart has it's pros and cons. If you want the pros, good prices and a decent selection, you have to put up with the cons, usually other customers like the mom with the 18 screaming kids as said before and the old bastards that like to have a 2 hour conversation right in the middle of the isle right in front of what your looking for. What's with all the amish like folks anyways, not that I'm complaining cause some of them chics are kinda hot, but they always seem to be in there when I go there. I did see two cute lesbians holding hands there so that made my day.

I HATE Walmart! I love Target!! I will only go to Walmart if I absolutely have to. Walmart is just so ghetto and dirty.

hey now i worked at cashwise for 2yrs...but yeah its really ghetto...fargo cashwise is A LOT better...or atleast it was when i worked in moorhead...but it wasnt that the people there didnt care it was all corporate...Coborns didnt give a damn about the moorhead store...shit would break and they would just put a bandaid over it...

Ive worked at wal-mart for well over two years now and I do agree with alot that is being said....the things that ive done have been nothing but thankless work...especially when I was a cartpusher...
But now im back in the TLE and its like a whole different world...none of the managment in the main store bothers us...I dont even feel like I work for wal-mart anymore, But yet my paycheck still comes from them....
I do shop there before anywhere else because they do just have what I need 99% of the time....But I check out somewhere else other than the front...its a disaster.....

I worked at the FF Wal-Mart for about two years and it was pretty damn sweet because I worked in electronics and it was best suited for me. Well then I got money hungry because the Talon always needed something and I started working in the backroom and stocking shelves. That is when the suck began. You feel worthless when you work the backroom because nothing is ever right.
You constantly hear it from the first shift people about how bad of a job you did. Even though first shift is the least busy time of the day they expect you to get done as much as they do. There are just a lot of nasty politics that go on behind closed doors at Wal-Mart which I am sure happens everywhere.
As far as what they as a business are doing for this country it is sad. Because of it's heavy reliance on Chinese imports it is forcing the good paying manufacturing jobs overseas just because they can't compete.
So when you hear about how many new jobs are being created in the United States. These new jobs are ones in retailers like Wal-Mart which give crap pay, crap benefits (ask a Wal-Mart associate if they get a bonus), and no real chance at advancing within your workplace.
Where I work now which is a non-union manufacturing (factory) job which is rare to find in the United States now it beats out Wal-Mart in every aspect. The pay is twice that of Wal-Mart's, benefits are outstanding (every that works there just got a $1000 thank you bonus, they get a XMAS bonus also which usually averages $3~4K AFTER taxes), and the oppurtunity to advance is ever present within the job.
True this is rare but this is how all jobs use to be. There was a XMAS bonus, there was opportunities for advancment, and they actually provided great benefits. The only way now to obtain job with said benefits requires a Bachelors degree or better.
Just to let you know the Wal-Mart stock has fallen 24% since 2000. I had about 15 shares but sold them for some parts that went on the Talon.

Sounds like some people in the 52nd Avenue south neighborhood weren't too thrilled to hear that the blood suckers from Walmart are planning to invade their neighborhood. I heard a bunch of people voiced concern at some meeting.
Well, since this thread, I've continued to shop at Walmart. However, I did a test run through Target as I got some film developed there last week and came up with a few observations:
- Hot women shop at Target. No lie, they are much, much hotter than those that shop at Walmart. When more men realize this, Walmart will go belly up.
- The pace at Target is much more laid back. There is much more space to move around and people seem to have a better attitude. I think this is why women prefer Target.
- The products are so much nicer. I've been looking for a new dresser for a while now and noticed that Walmart dressers are cheap and flimsy. Target dressers are a little more expensive but much nicer. Also, the women are much better looking at Target.
Overall grades:
Walmart
Women: D-
Prices: A
Comfort: DTarget
Women: A

Comfort: B+Walmart

You mean this stock? Funny how did you make money off of it?
I mean with a 1.26% yield - you must be making bank off of this. PUHLEASE don't feed me with that you guys are making money off of there stock. Charts dont lie, and I don't think any of you have your own brokerages/partner based firms and are buying/trading on the hour so you guys didn't make jack squat off of it. No one has - 70% of Walmart's stock is privately held, they could care less about what the price is selling at - it's just a way (extremely not accurate) of displaying company health for potential franchisee's (future option that they are looking into)
