Hey guys, thanks for the support and hearing me out on this one but I think this topic has veered way off course several times so it's time to stick a fork in it...she's done.
Thanks again for the support, when I get a chance to see Fred I'll let him know that there were a lot of people on his side here at least mentally. I'm sure he will appreciate it.
Chuck
PS. Nick or Jim, can I get a lock on this thing?? Thanks!

I didn't believe this BS about registering hands and feet with the Fargo PD back when it was originally posted, so I contacted the Fargo PD. It took them a while to reply, but they finally did. Here is their reply:
"Mr. Henry:
I am responding to a request for information you sent on 10/05. According to your comments, you heard a guy state he registered his feet and hands as weapons with the Fargo Police Department. The Fargo Police Department has no such registry program for hands and feet even if the person is a black belt. There never has been a registry program. If you have any other questions, please feel free to e-mail or contact me directly at the number below.Sgt. Kevin Volrath

technically speaking most black belts of any martial arts have to register. I'm sure Chuck is aware of this with his experience. If I do get into any kind of assault or fight, it's considered assault with a deadly weapon, I have never seen it charged that way. But supposedly that's what would happen. Don't care to test out the law eitherSo you are serious? You went in and registered with the Fargo Police?

When I was 15 years old, yes. I'm sure I still have the papers somewhere, my folks had to come with me. I recieved my black belt at the age of 15, before then they called it a "poom" belt which is a junior black belt. Esentially, it is a black belt but not granted to those of age. So when I turned 15, the Grand Master Soon Bae Kim changed the "rules" of the chang moo kwan association granting full fledged black belts to people the age of 15 with "special permission" granted by any nearby Grandmaster or Master. In my case the local Grand Master here is Moo Yong Yun (very interesting man whom is now semi-retired) -
To be fair to Adam here, I know that ATA back in 1990-something suggested that all black belts report to the police department in their city. I never did, and I don't know if any cities in ND require it, I'm just going by what ATA stated back in the day...
On a side note, my buddy is ok now, back at home after having 4 plates put in his jaw and face.

Yeah, he's being held in Jail. The 17 year old is going to be tried as an adult as well the way it sounds. The 14 year old, didn't actually participate so he is just an accessory and will probably just do time in Juvenile hall. The driver of the car (some female, don't know the age or anything about her) was let go and no charges were brought against her at this time....which I think is BS. If the 14 y/o gets in trouble, so should she.
-
another sign of predjiduce against males in todays law system. the female should be charged with something like fleeing the scene of a crime, plus an act of battery since she was a part of it.

YAY!!!! Kirk and I agreed on something for the first time in 2 days....LOL

hey tjamz i'm sorry to hear about your friend, that sucks, i didn't read every page but was there a reason they did it? My dad used to deliver pizza and he got jumped with abaseball bat by 3 guys and they got like 23 bucks. The guys were caught and the police found long division written on the pizza box.... 23/3 lol! i kid you not, these dumb fuckers had to write it out...
-
nope, no reason...they wanted something to do so they decided (and were speaking of it at Taco Johns earlier in the night) that they would beat up some people w/ a baseball bat and take their money....fucked up.

Glad to hear your buddy is out of the hospital. Is he gonna recover fully?
I don't doubt the martial arts places suggest doing what you are saying. But there is no way to do it in the city of Fargo, which was my direct question to 2k3wrx. I first asked a sheriff about it (who happens to be a good friends brother) and he said that whoever said that was as full of shit as a christmas goose... LOL so then I had to follow up with the Fargo PD and see what the real deal was.
