        I think a prelude has a very decent shot at taking down a turbo dsm. My brother has done it a bunch of times. According to a few people at preludeonline.com they have hit 147-148 mph stock. As far as powerband, the prelude will fall back into vtec on every shift so that should help. It's probibly more aerodynamic too. As far as non-turbo eclipses, I've beaten a few with my intrepid.

          If you were racing from a stop, and it was an AWD DSM there would be no race. From a roll, it might be more interesting, but I still would put money on the DSM winning.

          According to Honda-Acura.net the Type SH Prelude has 20% Drivetrain loss.

          ALSO i would be very interested in to seeing where this 222hp stat came from. Honda.com lists the Type SH as 200hp. Hondatech and Honda-Acura both have open threads about how it was overrated, and 190hp is much more realistic.

          Cars.com lists the Type SH as 200hp 2.2l I-4.

          So 222? where did this extra 22hp come from? your intake? 😛

          20% drivetrain loss on 200hp is 40hp. 160whp (the horsepower put to the wheels). There are multiple dynographs to show 157 whp is what they make stock.

          Now take in to consideration a FWD turbo DSM. 210bhp, factor in 11% drivetrain loss, 186.79whp.

          That is considerably more then 157hp. Add in a boost controller for the "one" mod and its complete ownage.

                    I will say this: Honda's ARE much more reliable then DSM's. However, when they start making the same amount of power as DSM's... they start breaking just as easily.

                      To play devil's advocate:

                      Prelude Type SH is just a base (190hp) 5th gen Prelude with a fancy suspension package. SH stands for Super Handling. I've already said this before, it blows. It's the heaviest Prelude to date, and ATTS usually starts failing by 250hp. I hate it when people use it as the representation for the "best Prelude" in comparisions. Integra Type R is good, Prelude Type SH is not.

                      I will have to disagree with your math somewhat. All FWD (and RWD, too) have roughly the same amount of drivetrain loss. It doesn't matter if you are talking about an MR2 or a Prelude, drivetrain loss is a rough static of 20%. AWD has greater drivetrain loss, but that's only because it's got more wheels to put power down to. Does that mean AWD launches slower because it's got less WHP? No, and it's the opposite in that case. Drivetrain loss is irrelevant in bench racing.

                      Fourth gen Preludes (unlike the number that you got for the fifth gen Type SH) are significantly lighter. The average is usually around 2800lbs, and that's because there are many standard options: ABS, power everything, power steering. I should say that a fourth gen Prelude with a JDM H22A (200hp) can certainly take a stock GST in both launch and 1/4 mile, and more easily take the GSX in the 1/4. Launch, of course, would naturally be expected to be less.

                      You guys are right that yes, this is an N/A Honda. That's the point. Let's see you make +200hp with a 420A or an NT 4g63 from a Galant without a turbo. Or keep up with a V8 without your turbo. As far as natural aspiration goes, this is some pretty impressive shit.

                      With all that said,

                        For the most part I totally agree with you. However, FWD GS-T's have 11% drivetrain loss, which equates to more power being put down by the car. Compared side to side to a 'lude with 20% I think it can be a significant difference.

                        Honda's are known for making some really crazy numbers out of thier tiny engines... Your right, the 420a or the 4g63 will never make those numbers N/A... just wont happen. However, just becuase our cars utilize FI, and were designed for FI (the 4g63 atleast), doesn't mean they dont make impressive numbers. Just going about it a different way.

                        Either way, it'd be an interesting race to see a H22 powered 4th Gen take on either a FWD or an AWD from both a stop and roll.

                          as far aerodynamics... the force on the car quadruples when the speed doubles,

                          I've gotten spanked by trucks for example bad and cought them and put 5-6 cars on them at 110, Altho that's a much exaggerated example

                            i dont care about this thread it started over some fucking ass hole who thinks his talon is a pimp shit. why whould some body make a thread about wut i said on the streets. dose your car not work cant you find me? im so sick of reading dsm this and dsm there always broken. why do you buy somthing that breaks the first time you do somthing to it? i know there are lots of hondas out there but how many are fast i mean like turboed or supercarged? but how many eclipse and talons do we have in town alot how many of them think there the fastest all of them so ok my prelude might get beat by a gsx but what did it take to do this awd turbo if thats wut it take to beat a honda i guess a dsm is the best?
