Not sure if i made myself clear on what exactly it is that i'm looking for.

I'm looking for a COMPLETELY wireless set up throughout the Fargo area. The only 2 places i've found advertising this are Sprint (my cell phone company) and I-29 Wireless. Both of which want me to buy a $200 network card as well as pay their monthly fee.

If you know of something I missed or of another company offering something like this PLEASE let me know asap.

        Thanks

          First of all:

i29 is -not- a mobile wireless setup. It is a fixed wireless setup that requires a bulky bridge/"modem".

We offer a Point to Multipoint wireless setup with fixed antennas/"modems" at your location.

In Moorhead, GoMoorhead is the closest to being a full mobile network as it is an actual mesh network. What is it you are looking to do?

I have i-29 wireless....its decent...its just like dsl though...except it doesnt need a phone line...its just the power cord and a cat5 cable.

just go buy a linksys router and a wireless card and it'll work.

I know what you're talking about, and you can only get it from i29.net. The modems they use are NOT 802.11a/b/g. The price quoted on the site is for a modem that is not portable. If you want a PCMCIA card for your laptop you must buy it outright, the MAC address will be enabled for this network, so if you can figure out what type of modem is being used, you can't buy it from eBay because i29 knows which ones should be on the network.

                  Good luck

Monet used EV-DO... i29 does not.

I hear sprint / verizon will have EV-DO service here fairly soon (summer). I have used EVDO all over the country and get anywhere from a 1mbps-1.5mbps connection to the internet usually.

                    My setup is:

PDA w/ Bluetooth -> Laptop w/ Bluetooth; no special modems or anything required, you can use any EVDO cap. phone w/ a USB cord or bluetooth.

                    The plans costs 40-60...

I thought Monet used 3G? We were just talking about it in class today how its the same technology as what the cell phone companies are using here...
