BTW, GTPs are weaksauce. I walked a GTP in my slowstang. What does a stock SN95 5.0 5spd run? Just out of curiousity...
GTPs are really hit and miss, depending on how well they were taken care of since new. Some are as slow as mid 15's and some as fast as mid 14's stock...which really isn't horrible for a FWD Auto V6 car weighing 3800lbs or so....

People will always stand by what they drive and argue until eternity on the subject. I'm merely stating these things as my opinion and nothing more. Everyone has the right to enjoy their car no matter what it has for an engine. (Although we all know I6s are the best anyway :icon_thumright:)Done and done. Well stated.

It really depends on the car. Most stock SN95 5.0 with a 5spd will run high 14s and an auto will be low 15s. I ran a 14.375 stock, so I have a factory freak.

a mustang isn't really considered a sports car IMO, just a redneck ferrari!what is up with you these days? You seem so damn angry..........I think you have ripped on everybody you have talked in the last couple of days.
Mister CMK- No arguments here. Both cars have poetential.......it is just the fact that not many mustangs on the road in the FM area do anything about it and are usually stock.

His is an oddball though... typically they are not low 14 second cars. He hasn't been able to duplicate those times since though... maybe the timing equipment was faulty that day.

Fawk that, it was so fucking hot and humid last track day.

It says NASCAR! Not muscle car.If that is the case then many of the so called "muscle cars" from back then I guess should be renamed "nascar cars". Many car companies back then to be legal in the races had to release streetable versions of the cars. That is where many of the "muscle cars" came from.
If Boss cars don't work for you... then perhaps 428 CJ Mach 1 or 390 FE Fastback would do the trick. -

Actually I like nearly all of the "hot cars" from the 60's-70's but I tend to classify the cars like they were intended. Chevelle, GTO, Road Runner, Etc. as muscle cars. The Corvette, AC Cobra, GT40 as sports cars. And finally Mustangs, Camaros, AMX-Javelins as pony cars. I'm used to seeing pony cars running Trans AM races then and now. Muscle cars running drag races, stock car races. Thats VERY LOOSELY defined though.

There were too many different types of a car back then to specifically classify them as one type of car though. You can't say all Mustangs were Muscle cars (but some were) or SCCA cars and so on... just like you can't say all Darts or Cudas or Road Runners were Muscle cars... because each one of those had too many different engine/body choices. There was anything from small 6 cylinder options to large big block V8 options.
Road Runner's had the Superbird. Mustangs had the Boss, and so on.... those were track built cars.
Mustangs had big block regular body Stangs for drag racing, as did other manufacturers.
Each one of the popular cars from back then had something for everyone. -

Acceleration times from a Renault F1 car (100kph = 62mph):0 to 100 km/h: 1.9 seconds
0 to 200 km/h: 3.9 seconds
0 to 300 km/h: 8.4 seconds, may be slightly more or less depending on the aerodynamic setup"top end in a pushrod is thrashy at best" must have read that on some import internet site, since you haven't driven a well done v8."
I have not driven a V8, but I have ridden in a friends GTP at full whack. And VTEC/VVT can sound quite nice when not hooked up to a fart can. In the end it depends on what your preference is.
"and say you just like a motor better because you know somehow that ohc motors are better even though its less powerful"
Depends on the application. How about a V12 Ferrari vs. a Camaro?

As I see it when you buy a Camaro, you get around 300hp from the factory. When you buy a CRX, you get a little over 100hp. Now look at what seanjohn has done for example (built LS/VTEC), and he is looking for high 12s all motor.
It's easy to have a fast car when it already came fast from the factory before you modded it. Now making a slow-from-the-factory 4-cyl fast, that's much more worthy of praise in my book.
To each their own! I'm done on the subject.
high 12s all motor are what ls1s do with very minor bolt ons.... so why do a whole motor swap/build to do it? I'm just saying why not have a car taht is factory fast and go faster yet, you could take a geo metro and make it faster but that would be stupid because its still slow. I guess i just like going fast instead of dumping money and time into a car with bad tq steer thats barely able to keep up with close to stock v8s. Lets praise you for making a slow car less slow and dealing with the tq steer and other bullshit along with it..
what v12 ferrrari are you talking about? try comparing a c6 zo6 vette performance with a 360 modena, along with the price tags..

U said 100 percent, check yo-self.I've yet to see a mid 10 second Talon that can run mid 10's all day long. Something breaks before too long and then it is back to the garage getting repaired again.
That's the thing with those little motors pushed far beyond the limit... reliability sucks. Hopefully you enjoy working on them a lot... because typically you will be doing much more of that then racing it.
