Performance Enthusiest Lack In ND

Well first off, before I get into my .02, I need to clarify one thing with Joel, as he made me look like a complete loser. Joel you came in here and talked a mess about other shops, then went on the forum and posted saying something to the effect of "ibthisisastithatwillactuallygetfinished". Sounded like you were playing devils advocate, when you know that we have fully invested into the projectsti motor, but are stuck with a shop that has taken their sweet time building, as well as using us as a 'prototype gerbal' for many new internals/cams/etc... Some things have worked great for the motor, while others just weren't gonna work. Did we have hopes of getting the sti out this year? YES, but that buzz for now is slowly diminished. When you came in that day, and I layed into you, I stated that if you are gonna come in here and talk smack, then turn a 180 and do the same to us, you are not welcome at the shop. My best resolution for you would be to just stop trying to play sides, and have fun at any shop you go to, cause the drama between shops in town has a lot to do with what others choose to make up/exaggerate/etc to the 'other' side to get a rise out of them.
The reason I do not post on this forum, is because everyone always feels the need to create drama, and try spark something. If that could stop, I would be happy to inform everyone of upcoming events sponsored by us..or ANYONE!
As far as the scene goes, I dunno what exactly to attribute it to. Aggressive competition? I don't think so. Making a customer feel like they have to like one shop or the other? yes. However, as Tufte said/does, he makes it a point to bring out SLS/SLD cars to street legals, so with that mature statement, others should feel welcome as well. What everyone doesn't realize is that if there isn't a crowd/attendants at sponsored events, the events will stop. I can guarantee that if the last street legal events don't improve, there will be no drags next year, unless someone else wants to make a poor investment. We as a shop have NEVER EVER taken home money from the attendance at IDRAGS. If 1000 cars showed up, we would not 'directly' make any money... Gain a customer or 2, sure, but we don't take home any of the racer fees or spectator fees. ZERO ZILCH NADA. We are always trying to find new ways to keep the scene active, and I never have claimed to be the 'know it all' about getting everyone happy and satisfied. I think we are looking at spending our money next year at renting out/sponsoring road race days at Brainard, as well as autox. But as of now, IDRAGS and tintmasters will split.
I have spoke briefly with Shane about doing a bracket style race day on the 2 day track event in August. 3-4 runs at the beginning of the day, then dial in numbers. Just like Rockfalls has done for years. Would that make things more fun and interesting to watch? Is it going to require money/trophies/prizes to make it worthwhile? Cause if it is, I would have to say it won't happen, as the track rental is already emptying our pockets. But if another shop wanted to jump in and collaborate with us and offer prizes/cash/etc... I think we would be interested in teaming up with them. The beef between SLS and tintmasters needs to die out, cause I am personally tired of the bs and drama caused by it. Competition is a great thing, but bad mouthing others is bad business...I know it and I think all involved know it. So the two options are: keep the drama going, or keep the competition friendly and help create events together

Im all for doing it as long as it will happen. I dont wanna get boned again by IDR last time and be stuck w/ $3XX in trophies and nothing to do w/ them like they did to me last time w/ the Midwest Mayhem. Will we take the time to either figure out cash payouts or trophies as well as flyers to promote the event as long as IDR is willing to work w/ everyone and make shit happen for once rather then just sitting back and watch and wonder why no one is showing up.

I understand your cautious attitude completely, but that weekend is ours, and at the fee we are paying, they will have NO say in how we collectively choose to run the day.
Should we have the bracket "classed" racing be both days or one day? I would like to hear insight from those that are going to be there racing, and not those that just have an opinion. What do the RACERS wanna see, and Nick what do you think?

You could use Saturday for time trials to see what times the cars should be in and then Sunday for the eliminations. Just a thought.
It would suck, but only way to preserve the starting line traction for the high hp cars would be to use cones to make the street tired cars run out of the groove. It would suck for them though..but not make that much of a difference. Plus it would make more work for the track personel.

only way to keep prep good, is to keep all seasons off the track, keep everyone from driving all over the gravel, keep A/C off, and clean off tires before every run. Not gonna happen
I wasn't trying to say it was the tracks fault for that. Just wanted to clear that up.

Class it just like Rock Falls based on car count and then run a sub 12.0 class as one since I doubt there will be very many.
Also sub 12.0 should be on a .400 pro tree.

Haven't really decided on how to make it all work yet. We've been discussing this for the past week and half now and when iw as down in the Minneapolis and Sioux falls the other week i tried to draw a crowd to come down but none of them wanted to make the trip as they've had such bad experiences from the past few years so im still working on them one last time to give it another shot. What i dont want to happen is get them to come down and have the track be horse shit again as that'll be the last chance anyone will ever even bother again, so i got some thinking to do on how to make this good.

As far as avoiding the gravel, I understand at IDRAGS it is only possible to be on gravel as little as possible, but I guess the best solution is just to wipe off tires before you get in line when ur car is on pavement.
These are just things that can help the track prep situation.

Only crappy thing about that, is we would only be able to do that for a little bit, as many of the beginners like to race there buddies, and both are on street tires.

Well, if nothing else, this thread got the two shops talking (at least on here) which cannot be a bad thing. Hopefully something materializes from this.

the cone idea thing is a decent idea, for people on street tires, i have got better traction on the street then i did at the track, in a straight line ive never had the back kick out going into second and extremely rarely a chirp into 3rd. and i was spinning in 3rd on the track. i say give the cone idea a chance.
but i do know ill be on drag radials next year maybe even for the last event.

We had a customer in last week that said something directly to Tony about the shit he was ramblin about as well as he's talked shit directly to Kirk, Kevin, etc @ the last track day, and you Chuck even mentioned he said something directly to you in their own store. Personally if that were my employee we'd be having a little discussion as word spreads fast and its not exactly good business when we get customers in here telling us exactly what kinda shit he's been talkin.
You wanna keep stuff civil tell your punk kids to get some legit facts before they talk shit.

Thats exactly what I was referring to when I posted what I did. It is unfortunate that people can't take the higher road and put petty shit asside instead of resorting to talking smack. Believe it or not, the whole scene and those in it rely on the shops and look up to those working there and what is said directly affect the scene in one form or another. Obviously, nothing positive will come out of it either.
