Yeah, we should just try to make a site meet or something out of it. Everyone should just come out. Set up cones, slick up the parking lot to conserve tires and just go at it.

Or just do it illegally like every other area in the world that doesn't have organized events.

Not condoning/glorifying it, but that's how it ends up when the kids have nowhere to go practice.

Fact is, people in the area do it. Maybe not a whole lot of it, but it DOES happen more than you probably think. Not saying I have or have not, or do or don't.

I'd love to have a place to go practice, even if it's 2 hours away. I mean, there HAS to be a large enough parking lot that doesn't get used much/at all in the area that would suit for what we would need. It's something I'm going to want to look into over this winter, because in all honesty, it's just another way to draw more people into the scene, and also create the comraderie among drivers. And it lessens the chance of me getting an exhibition ticket. I've had enough close calls with that in the last year.

i wasnt infering the import scene. the drift scene kind off like auto-x and drage scene u dont have to have an import to participate. domestic, euro ect if it rwd it can drift, some need alittle help in HP or removing stability controls but it can happen.

Nick said it better than anyone couldve. Jason said it about me and he was right. I, Jiust like a lot of other people, Unintentionally, end up trying to play sides when i'm at each shop. Why? because theres a lot fo it already going on 1/2 the time i'm there. Jason, Nicely said, U have big kahoonas for doing that.

Drifting is lame. I know that you will never get most of the domestic guys involved. For starters, drifting is very hard on tires. Also, most people have cars that are set up for drag or road race. I know I won't drift with my car.

I cannot imagine it, a area with a smaller than average turnout for drag races, how a drift comp would be. Pathetic at best???? Not stating, asking.

Funny you should say that, because drift cars are setup damn near the same as road racing cars. You have to pay attention to the overall balance of the car, and can't just focus on power. Same safety regulations, same handling characteristics, downforce (on the cars going fast enough to need it), suspension is the same, and they use the same street radials that I use for autocrossing! Remember, there's no super dorifto tire, the Falken 615 you can buy is the same tire the pros use, same goes for all the other brands.

Drifting isn't about getting sideways and roasting tires like people think. Is it really racing? Of course not. It's nothing more than a car show, except the cars actually do something other than get loaded on and off a trailer and parked with a bunch of cotton balls stuffed under the side skirts.

But the thing is, you have to know your car and be able to properly control it. All those saying drifting is gay, how many events have you attended? Have you gone to D1GP, Formula D, or any other sort of organized events? Or have you just been watching the videos of kids sticking trays under their Civic's rear end and being a bunch of idiots? I'm no pro drifter, hell, I suck at it, but it doesn't mean I'm NOT going to try to bring organized events to the area. And it doesn't have to be RWD! Just not FWD! There's been AWD cars in D1 in previous years, but they banned that drivetrain after the JUN Super Lemon Evo V came fresh out of it's build up and took the event at Suzuka.

And honestly, what kind of domestic car owner doesn't like burning rubber?! That shit's therapeutic! Nothing better than the smell of roasted tires and C16, in my world!

But seriously, it's one of those things that you can't watch it on TV and judge it from only that source. Get to some of the events in Minnesota! I'd be there, S13 or not if I weren't deployed right now. It doesn't take gobs of cash like everyone thinks. Tires and your drivetrain is what takes the worst of it, but I'm sure y'all know, that with the right money invested initially, the drivetrain can take whatever gets thrown at it.

Some of this kinda got covered on that intro thread on the TM site (some of y'all know which one I'm referring to). Yes, the drift scene is practically non existant in ND. But I know there's enough people interested to make at least 2 events happen a year. There's no reason we shouldn't explore the options to make this happen. The less it's on the street, the better it is for us in the end, and it shows the city that we're trying to keep it legal.
