Performance Enthusiest Lack In ND

Also, most people have cars that are set up for drag or road race. I know I won't drift with my car.Funny you should say that, because drift cars are setup damn near the same as road racing cars. You have to pay attention to the overall balance of the car, and can't just focus on power. Same safety regulations, same handling characteristics, downforce (on the cars going fast enough to need it), suspension is the same, and they use the same street radials that I use for autocrossing! Remember, there's no super dorifto tire, the Falken 615 you can buy is the same tire the pros use, same goes for all the other brands.
Drifting isn't about getting sideways and roasting tires like people think. Is it really racing? Of course not. It's nothing more than a car show, except the cars actually do something other than get loaded on and off a trailer and parked with a bunch of cotton balls stuffed under the side skirts.
But the thing is, you have to know your car and be able to properly control it. All those saying drifting is gay, how many events have you attended? Have you gone to D1GP, Formula D, or any other sort of organized events? Or have you just been watching the videos of kids sticking trays under their Civic's rear end and being a bunch of idiots? I'm no pro drifter, hell, I suck at it, but it doesn't mean I'm NOT going to try to bring organized events to the area. And it doesn't have to be RWD! Just not FWD! There's been AWD cars in D1 in previous years, but they banned that drivetrain after the JUN Super Lemon Evo V came fresh out of it's build up and took the event at Suzuka.
And honestly, what kind of domestic car owner doesn't like burning rubber?! That shit's therapeutic! Nothing better than the smell of roasted tires and C16, in my world!
But seriously, it's one of those things that you can't watch it on TV and judge it from only that source. Get to some of the events in Minnesota! I'd be there, S13 or not if I weren't deployed right now. It doesn't take gobs of cash like everyone thinks. Tires and your drivetrain is what takes the worst of it, but I'm sure y'all know, that with the right money invested initially, the drivetrain can take whatever gets thrown at it.
Some of this kinda got covered on that intro thread on the TM site (some of y'all know which one I'm referring to). Yes, the drift scene is practically non existant in ND. But I know there's enough people interested to make at least 2 events happen a year. There's no reason we shouldn't explore the options to make this happen. The less it's on the street, the better it is for us in the end, and it shows the city that we're trying to keep it legal.

Bought a CA18 motorset today with a crazy head port job, brand new OEM bottom end and larger injectors, just gotta get the right manifold for my S15 turbo (has a T3 flange, but I need a T28 flange, if anyone knows of anyone selling one, and no knockoffs, period), and a few other things. Jon, I might need a transmission if you've got one. I've already sourced a wiring harness, and that just leaves the intercooler setup and a few easily acquirable misc parts. All depends if I can go overseas again this winter. The way it stands, it won't be done this year before the snow hits. And it will need paint, too. Not bringing that thing out in half yellow, 1/4 gray, 1/4 black that it is now.
I'll be out and about at the races though.

currently the only trannys i have is a sohc auto, the dohc 5speed in my car. and can get an 0bd2-5speed. all KA's of course. i can look, and i may be coming across a dohc auto, anythingIt's cool, KA's and CA's have the same tranny bolt pattern. Not sure if that only applies to pignose years (since those were the CA years) or not. But yeah, I've got a sohc auto already, so I'll be needing the 5 speed. I've got everything I need for the swap, but I sold the 5 speed out of the white car with the motor, for some reason.

Won't be back until October, so definetly no racing for me this year. Nuts.
On topic: We should at least see if the SCCA will allow us to drift during fun runs at the autocrosses. They allow it at my home region...
