Purchasing part online question

ok so here the deal i found a used intake that i have been looking for some time now and i came across one on a mustang message board for a semi- decent deal

but my problem is he doesnt take paypal as payment, i havent bought anything off the net w/ out paypal for a couple of years and im do not want to send a money order because i have no way of knowing if he will send the part

so is there any other type of payment to send that i can cancel if he doesnt send? or at least something i can protect myself with??

im thinking about just saying the hell with it and keep looking for one but this intake doesnt come up for sale very often and i would like to get my motor back together so i can start on the turbo plumbing

so he doesnt have paypal or wont accept it. ask if he well you you pay the 3% fee with it

Or see if he'd be willing to do 1/2 now and 1/2 on arrival.

COD- he ships it to you, you send cashiers check back with UPS man, he gets check 2-3 days later. Everyone is happy. Your heads won't be here until tuesday (they had the wrong ones in stock, but they are now in the mail BTW)

Is post dating a personal check an option? Put the date two weeks from today on the check and if you don't receive the item within 10 days, simply cancel the check.
Not sure if this will work.

Hando...Banks don't always check that, tellers aren't exactly the brightest people on earth sometimes and many don't check the dates to see if it's been postdated.

Some people like myself refuse to accept paypal because paypal used to have this nasty tendency to completely shut out bank accounts because they found a "discrepancy" and it took me 3 weeks before they finally let me have access to my money in my checking account (real interesting finding rent money) I will never again use paypal.
