Lets have a discussion about what is better? We have all read it in Motor Trend and such about them going back and forth ....

Since I have an evo im gonna vote for the evo you ask why?

    1. 4g63 ( stronger, easier to work on, looks better, and its got mivec

    2. Seats are nicer in the evos.

    3. My 5 speed doesnt grind like kirks 6 speed after a rebuild.... Tre> subbie dealership

    4. I like that the evo came with a sound system stock.....

    5. fmic stock no stupid tmic...

Things I dislike about both cars.

    1. Brake dust.

    2. Carpet

    3. Rear seats in the Sti

    Anyone else have an opinion...

im inbetween on them. I would deffinatly need to drive them both before i would make a opinion.

I like the sti body, but the evos drivetrain

I think the biggest problem with this comparisson is that the car are built with entirely different concepts in mind. I really think that the JDM sti (2L) is a much better competator as it is designed before the "rally" influence really took over at subaru

          But anyway:

          1. 4g63 has been around much longer, has had all the time it needs to be studied etc. the ej25 block is "stronger" as in rated to more abuse and (duh) has larger displacement, but is too new and has no legacy of tuning to back it up yet

2)I personally don't like either seat.

3)the Sti tranny is better. Hands down. stronger and faster with more research put in then any non-race tranmission ever. Mecha rear diff + no stupid computer taking care of everything rocks. Draw back = stupid short, rally much? needs to be re-geared if used for straight line applications

          1. Subaru's nice stereo equip is an option....

          2. FMIC setup = LAG, only needed for straightline and only if truly utilized if you are taking car above and beyond stock TMIC = Throttle response. much better for auto x, limits air flow after above and beyond.

          VMIC is the best.

For the Evo: Immediate gratification. I doubt there is another car in this class that is half as fun right out the lot. This is a hell of a car.

Con the Evo: A computer controls too much, the potential is easy at low levels, but becomes increasingly difficult to obtain on stock components

For the STi: A chasis that does not need stiffening, the best engine setup to ever grace a AWD car, Potential. Stock components that far exceed their expectations, this car can be severely underbuilt.

Con the Sti: To even utilize half the benefits you haveto modify, ride height and understeer.

Personally I would take an sti as i know it will handle everything i could throw at it. But I respect the Evo for what it is. I would also like to state that i really don't care for Drag racing, so half the appeal of a evo is lost on me.

Attention Go Green! advertisers: For every Go Green! logo I have to see, I will throw another can of weed killer on the tire fire in my back yard

i would prefer an evo i like the body style more and they are faster for straight line races but sti's are still nice cars it just depends on what your looking for out of the car that will depend if you like an evo or an sti

I like the Evo's driveline but the '04-'05 STI body style. If I was to choos between the two, (all things equal mod-wise) I'd probably go with the STI. That's just more appealing to me (personally). But, that's marginally at best.

I like it myself. Kinda has that "Alpha Romeo/Pugeot cross" look about it. I'm actually liking the newest concept renderings of the upcomming cars.

Ok, wouldn't a bigger IC and more piping equal more space to pressurize. Like on an air compressor with the same size pump, it well take less time to pressurize a 1 gallon tank then a 2 gallon tank. the same concept well apply to a intake system after the turbo.

I'd pick a sti but i like both,

things i like about the sti, nice seats, adjustable headlights, i/c sprayer.

evo i dont really like any of the interior at all, except for the new recaro seats in the evo9.

other than that, sti's cost alot more to make fast, and just changing the plugs is a hassle.

Pretty sure I would sacrifice a 1/10th of a milisecond for much cooler denser air... and I dont know how you can say it only helps going in a straightline, Heat rises, so with a TMIC, you are heatingsoaking all the time..

                                  no race car? becuz homeowner...

The TMIC on sti's see very little heat soak because of the way exhaust is removed, and the positioning of the actual IC, TMIC on say MS6 would definitely see difference
