You can not say that we have the best healthcare in the world when access is limited to only those who can afford it.

"Healthcare" has nothing to do with the government? The issue of universal healthcare has been a major topic of late, and it definately involves the government. In regard to the rest of the developed world we have a much higher percentage of people without healthcare insurance, and that leads me to the conclusion that we have a healthcare problem.

It would be wonderful to think that our elected officials would vote for our best interests, but in reality they most often vote for their own benefit. What will keep me in office, what will give me more power, and what will get me more money are the thoughts that cloud the judgement of reps and senators in Washington. Nothing will change if the system remains the same. I wish I had a reasonable proposal on how to remedy this beyond more term limits.

I caught a great show about the war in Iraq last night on PBS, I believe it was called "The Lost Year in Iraq". It was a Frontline documentary outlining the mistakes made which have gotten us into this mess. If you stand up and defend the current "leaders" of this country you should be examined for a mental disorder. Every politician that stood down or stood up and allowed this war to happen has blood on their hands. We have soilders dying in a war that will not be won, in a country that will be worse off then when we entered it, and all the while here we sit. We are a disgrace.

tjamz, I didn't mean to offend you with the bong comment, it was meant in a joking manner(damn internet botox). I agree that locking down our borders is necessary, I'm just not sure that shooting people dead or putting them in jail is the best way to do it. The major concern is I see no action by our Government to move in this direction. Why is no one looking out for our country's best interests?

tjamz, besides being extremely paranoid(hit the bong lately?), attempting to send every illegal to Gitmo would be pointless and impossible. Imagine the costs of funding a prison of that size, it costs billions as is. Illegal immigrants biggest impact on this country is its role in weakening the "middle class". Who benefits from cheap labor? The wealthy. Paying people peanuts to do a job that could command a real wage is a punch in the face of every working man and woman. It wasn't long ago that everyone was talking about job outsourcing and the outrage of people whose jobs were being filled by people in India for half the wage. Why are we not outraged that someone illegally in this country could take your job, not because they are more qualified, but because they will do the job for a third of what they pay you? This country we call home is on a bullet train in the wrong direction, when will we stand up and make that known? Seal the borders and streamline the immigration process! Viva revolucion!

My car got backed into for the second time in a month. It is obviously too much to expect that the guilty party's would leave a note. At this point I'm looking at paying my deductible twice in order to get it repaired.......F*CK! Anyway, I was hoping that someone could give me some guidance on where I should take it to be fixed. Allied gave me the option of Quality, Northwest, or Larry's for the estimate. Does anyone have any opinions, good or bad on these three? Thanks in advance.

That wasn't the point. New Orleans, education, healthcare, and a million others. This country needs to focus more time and money at home. If we had a decent education system idiots like Bush would not be elected. The biggest problem with this country is that there's another idiot born every minute and no education system to vaccinate the disease.

How would you win a war against Iran? President Bush and his administration have done more damage to this country in the past six years then one could even begin to quantify. How much money have we dumped into Iraq, and for what? Americans are dying there in vain everyday. We are not helping Iraq, all we have done is helped start a civil war. How can one expected to establish democracy when half the country wants to stab their neighbor. Going to Iraq weakened this fine country we call home. The USA is less respected from a world view, and anything we get involved with at this point will be met with apprehension. Cooler heads must prevail! Rushing head on into another conflict on the world's stage is a bad idea. Besides, how the hell can we afford it? Last time I checked we couldn't drum up enough money to rebuild New Orleans.

I guess the use of the word "biased" was a poor choice. The point I was trying to make is that a person's views are shaped by their experiences.

What does being the best and racism have to do with each other? Last time I checked the United States was made up of more than one race. There is a big difference between being raised "thinking" you're best, and being raised striving to be the best. If you think being an "American" makes you superior to someone who is not, you are a fool.

Historically, more wars have been fought in the name of religion than race.

Everyone has biases, but in no way does that justify being a racist! What makes this country great is the "idea" that people are free to be themselves.

we as american's are raised from birth to beleive we are better the every body else, racism is always going to be a part of america and a part of the people that compose this great country, if you look deep inside yourself everybody has a little bit of racism.
