If you do manage to put red bulbs in your normal headlight enclosures that will be good for the rest of us, since red light is the lowest energy intensity and has the lowest detrimental effect on night vision. The reason military issue flashlights had red filters was because of the low energy output (hard for others to see you at night from long distance).
Green light has the highest amont of monochromatic contrast resolution of any single color, which is why so many single color displays (i.e. military equipment) use green as the color.
BMWs used amber/red interior lighting exclusively in the 80s due to the low impact on night vision, but as their clientele has continued to become old/geriatric, they (and other automakers) have started using brighter white interior lighting as it is easier for older eyes to resolve.
The others extolling the virtues of yellow lights are on the money. French spec cars are required by law to have yellow lenses on either the high or low beams (i forget which).
Anyway... yeah, if you use normal wattage bulbs in red lenses, that will be great for us, because we won't be blinded by your car. I'd much prefer that to someone putting 9000k purple chinese HIDs in thier shitty car with bullshit wal-mart optics.
You, on the other hand, probably won't see the road very well
