35% all the way around. DarkDan down in Owatonna did an excellent job and he charges $160 to do Mustangs. I've never been hassled for it either.

I know that guy.. On a forum that's local to an area south of the cities, he posts a lot of his work.. He seems to be pretty good and charges reasonable..

I have like 22% or that is what the meter read, only got 1 ticket but that was when I first went into IOWA, their Tint laws are like no darker than 70%..

If you have like a white car, and dark tint, it'll be more noticeable compared to darker colored cars..

see i don't want to vary the tint. I want the same shade all around. I'm thinking 35% might be the way to go...

Factory tint on GM trucks and SUV somewhere around 25%( I can't remember). My jeep is lighter. I have had 35%(all 5 window) on one car and 20% on 2 vehicles(all 5 windows) I have never got pulled over for tint in any of them. I have been pulled over with tint on and the cop never even said a word about my tint.

If you remember Cody's car, he had 30% on it.

if a vehicle comes with a/c it has 7% tint all around i believe(in most cases). but the results of the test also depend on the weather outside, if it is cloudy it reads darker than if it is bright and sunny.
in my opinion i would go with 50% upfront and 20%in the rear...my $.02

So where did you get all this info from? 7% tint would be extremely dark, you must have meant 93%. They measure by how much light passes through the tint/window. The amount of tint in a factory window depends on the car manufacturer. They're not all the same, but they can not be any darker than 70% on the front 2 windows of any vehicle because of state laws. Rear windows on trucks/SUVs are obviously darker in a lot of cases, somewhere around 20% like someone stated.

And no, weather does not have any effect on how your windows will meter. Their tool for measuring that, measures how much light passes through, not how dark the clouds are that day.

My Tintmaster tint job has 30% on the rear windows and 50% on the roll-downs. I haven't been pulled over for anything in over 4 years.

mn is 50% all around. and ND is IIRC, 50% on the roll downs, and behind the drivers door, what ever you want. I personally would not ever go darker then 20%

yes i did mean 93% sorry. as far as the weather part goes than why did my friend get a ticket for 38% on a cloudy day than the next day went to the hp office and got it retested at 43%?

I could see the weather affecting it slightly. There will obviously be some machine error as well, but, a sunny day there is going to be more ambient light around that could affect the read on the meter.

I don't know, could be other factors like dirty vs. clean window, different meters, shady cop lieing about it. Either way it was over the limit.

If that's the case, then why don't people get tint tickets in cars with NO tint on the front windows at night time? It's totally dark outside therefore the windows are darker? I think not, sorry. I'd definitely have to see that one to believe it.

It was just a theory. At night the laser would be the only light and could be refracted/reflected. I don't really care one way or the other because they can say whatever they want.

I have 20% all around... except windshield, and have been pulled over twice, and cops never even asked about tint... one time i also didnt have my switch hooked up to roll my window down, so i had to open the door, so obviously he saw the tint very well.... but i wouldnt go darker then 20% on any window... darker can look bad, but sometimes its allright...

I had 5% on the fronts on my old talon, that sucked to see out of at night... I got tired of rolling the windows down to see if cars were coming.

On the BMW i had 35%, 50% on the windshield... loved it.

I got several tint tickets on the BMW, but mostly just cause they wanted to see if i was drunk I think

Whether or not the window is clean is going to affect the accuracy of the meter more than anything. If there is dirt on the window it will read as being darker than it really is.

I've always gotten 50% on my cars (except for the gsx which had some nice purple early 90s stuff when i got it) and i've never had a problem. I remember hearing from someone a while back that the cops will hassle you more if they cant see into your car, I always roll down the window right away if I get pulled over anyway, but I guess that makes sense.

30% percent and pulled over once... by a highway patrolman.. otherwise no other cop said a word
