    You will need to put the #1 cylinder to TDC and then put the valvetrain to TDC and then put the belt back on. Pretty easy.

      Do I need to replace the timing belt tensioner too?

          replace anything timing belt related, especially since your last one broke.

          1. timing belt
          2. water pump
          3. timing belt tensioner
          4. might as well do a new A/C belt and P/S belt.

                What's the best way to get the crank pulley off, if i don't have an impact wrench? I'm trying to get this done on the cheap side. I don't want to take it to a shop if I don't have to.

                  use an impact wrench or buy the $150 crank pulley holder from mac tools. 🙂

                      Well I now have the timing belt on and it turns over fine, but it doesn't fire. I checked all the fuses and what not, but everyone looked just fine. I am officially stumped now.:icon_scratch:

                            yes. If you are standing in front of the car the order from left to right should be 4-3-2-1.

                            checking compression at this point would be pretty important. setting the cam gear off by a couple teeth will cause you trouble. A compression test will tell you if you are off. If you find out that you are off then fix it and still don't get compression you may have bent the valves.

                            Also, quadruple-check your spark plug wires IF you happened to take them off the distributor during the job. I always found a way to screw that up. Firing order should be 1-3-4-2. The rotor runs clockwise and #1 pin should be located at the upper-left for SOHC motors, otherwise, it's lower left I believe.

                              I know of one kid that had one and one day something happend to it and would start, they thought the motor was toast and I think it was just the timing was off 180 degrees.

                                Well idk if I need to have a battery hooked up to it, because all I've done is hook up my jumper cables from my Oldsmobile.
