i prolly woulda just hit them, technically they have the right away....

Actually, no they don't. They are on vehicles (yes, bicycles are vehicles) and have to follow the rules of the road....technically they are supposed to be driven on the street, not on sidewalks.

Hence why you can get a DUI on a bike.

Then explain why they do not have to have license plates, registration, insurance, turn signals and brake lights, headlight..... and dont get pulled over for driving through stop signs and stop lights, cut off traffic................ and then exibition for doing wheelies and endos.

Motorcycles are not held to the same standards as a car/truck either. It's because the vehicle is not motorized that many of those are allowed. If they get caught running a stopsign or stoplight they can be cited just like any other driver though.

And yes, you can get a DUI on a bike. My friends car got hit by a drunk guy on a bike and the cop that arrived to help him gave the guy a DUI. Rather stupid if you ask me, it's a lot safer form of transportation than driving...only person you're really going to injure is yourself. They gotta get their money somehow though.

I had a group of bosians in west fargo do that shit to me yesterday when i was on my way home with my two kids. You would think if you saw a car coming then you would wait for it to pass then cross the road. Not in this case. So i proceeded to let them cross then i turned around to follow them. I didnt do anything to them nor did i yell anything to them. Sure was fun to fuck with their heads for a little bit. 🙂

Because plates/registration/insurance/turn signals & brakes (actually...don't need them if you use hand signals) are required on motor vehicles. They can be pulled over for failure to stop, cutting off traffic, speeding, exhibition driving (if on the road), etc...

IMO, if they take up space on the road they should have to meet the same standards as everything else on the road. Not only for other people on the road but for there own saftey. We all know what would happen in a bike and car accident. The laws should also be equally inforced on them. I can not count the number of times i have scene bike riders pedal right though a stop sign or traffic light with a cop there, I know if it was a car they would be fucked.

When I ride bike I do not go on the street unless there is no sidewalk, there are to many idiots on the road to risk my life on a pedal bike

I also try to bike on the side walk. Then I got arrested for it. My father has gotten a speeding and running a stop sign ticket on his bike. It just sucks that the police don't enforce the bike laws more thoroughly.

Chinese Proverb? Not really, but still I ponder.

Why is that at least once a week, while riding my bike, some asshole passenger in a vehicle yells out the window to get a car?

Bicycle awarness is not what it should be. I assume it is even worse in Fargo than in the cities.

The other thing I love is seeing retards riding down the road with a bright reflective vest on, with no helmet. WHY?

I was surprised as hell with the number of bikes I saw on the road down in the cities. Pilot Knob Road (a fairly busy 4 lane) was full of them from Farmington up to Eagan.

I myself would prefer riding on the sidewalk. Frankly I can't keep up with traffic and I know how much it bugs me when a lane is taken up in busy traffic by some guy on a bike.

i know in Bismarck a few years back it was illegal to ride a bike on the sidewalk. I got a ticket for it about 8 years ago. I had no idea you had to ride your bike on the street, with alot of the drivers out there I sure wouldnt want to.

We were riding around hopping onto benches, grinding, flatland tricks, and I have been ticketed 5 times for riding on the sidewalk/destruction of property. This time a cop rolled by and said something, we (of course) responded with middle fingers and riding away. Then a K-9 unit ripped my buddy Rod off his bike, so we all pretty much gave up. I was cuffed and taken to the holding tanks, then charged something like $130 for improper use of a vehicle and fleeing an officer.

I just read somewhere that the cities are number two, only to Portland, in having the most amount of people who commute to work, by bicycle, in the US. When you add in the fact QBP is out the cities. (Quality Bicycle Products the largest distributer of bicycle parts, nearly evershop has there 1000 page cataloug on there front counter) it seems to make sense. Eriks bike shop is a top 5 distrubuter for Specialized, and Cannondale as well and Penn cycle was/is a 1 or 2 Trek from what I understand in the US.

i would rather have people ride there bikes on the sidewalks personally.... if you can't keep up with traffic your asking for all kinds of trouble riding on the road...

Not all of them live off the system. Some of the parents are here on J5 Visa's working in healthcare. It's too bad that the bad apples of the group fuck the image of the rest of them.
