I knew it was inevitable that it would go so I decided to save myself the agony of breaking during a race or something and would just get it rebuilt.

I have a 90 plymouth laser that did the same thing. My problem was that my engine leand out and i broke a valve, and that was why my engine was doing that exact same thing. Not to scare you cause it could be something minor like what you are thinking but that is what happened to me. 😮

What does your stock oil pressure guage say at idle?

There's not really much to check. If you have low oil pressure then there's nothing short of replacing or rebuilding an engine that'll give you oil pressure. I'd just drive it for now and keep a good eye on it. I thought it might just be a bad sensor but if your guage reads low also, than it's a good indication that it's low. Save your pennies for an engine from SLS. They have done countless Jap-spec engine swaps and are reasonable about price.
