the fact that you let max touch your car and help you do stuff to it might be the problem. j/k

have you gotten a second opinion on how the car feels under boost? it might not be anything because you're so used to how it feels. as far as the sputtering... without konwing anything else about the problem, i'm going to guess that you're getting too much fuel somewhere

I've driven the car. It's not the feeling of a normal DSM. the turbo spools nice til 11 or 12 lb.s and then sputters really bad. could it possibly be the turbo?

If its boosting up to 12 then its prolly not the turbo, but it could be. Does it feel like the engine just shuts down...then it comes back...then shuts down again? If it does thats probably fuel cut. Cold can effect that, but so can a boost leak.

Also Jim awhile back i think you said something about running rich causing fuel cut. Maybe you didint....but I was under the impression Fuel Cut was the ECU seeing too much air flow through the MAS.

I have a 2g mas 550cc injectors, afcII, and afpr, i tried screwing with the afc a little bit, thought it might have been rich. I also have a narrow band air/fuel guage that i kinda monitor, and it seems that it is tuned pretty good as far as air fuel goes, but i think those things suck, I should get an lm1 and be done with it.

I have a built bottom end with 1g big rods 2g pistons, .2 over bore, hks 272 cams
afcII, 550cc injectors, 14b turbo, sls intercooler piping, intake, 2g mas, k&n fipk, boost controller (spelling?), 2g exhuast manifold, full 3" exhuast with o2 eliminator, 255lph hp fuel pump, afpr, thats all i can think of right now. I think i found one of the boost leaks but it still sputters a little bit, and now I get bad boost spikes. I have it set at 10 pounds and it spikes to 20 pounds. got any ideas?

i had the same problem with my old 7 bolt motor...and it got really screwed so i got a 6 bolt and it did almost the same thing...it would sputter...then take off and then boost up to 20+psi

Yeah I did make some thing to check for boost leaks and the boost controller was one of them, then I had one between the turbo and j pipe, then I had one on the intake manifold. I fixed them all, the boost controller still leaks a little but at 50 psi, so it shouldnt be an issue.

if it doesn't leak till 50psi then its not really an issue

intercooler pipes will blow off at high pressure like that too... but we don't boost that much so its not like it matters?

Yep tap it off the Intake manifold. Also you could tap it off the J-pipe.. Have you done a compression check on your new engine? just wondering what you get!
