The F1. BMW built the engine, and it is all-motor. The guy behind the car designed F1 cars for a living.

The Veryon is a bit.. in elegant. The design process was "make it 1000hp", followed by lots and lots of "make it not blow up".

Comparatively, Murray [the F1 designer, iirc] tells BMW "i need an engine that makes this much power and is below this weight". What he got was 50 more hp than he needed and slightly more weight. What BMW did was take two of the euro-spec E36 M3 engines and make them into a V12

Unless I can turn the three seats in the F1 into a single seat, Veyron albeit one without any paint at all. I think that's when the Bugatti looks its best.

Oh and btw these threads aren't a waste of space it gets us interacting with each other. These are the exact kind of questions you ask your friends when you are sitting around BS'n.

In a 1 mile drag: Veyron

Around the track @ Top Gear the Veyron is #6 overall fastest time whereas the F1 hasn't been tested (to my knowledge)

I'd personally rather own a Veyron but drive a McLaren F1

i don't think the F1 exhaust was gold. It's engine bay was lined with gold for heat reflective properties [i.e. gold heat shields], but i don't think the exhaust itself was gold. do you have a reference?

a troy ounce of gold is right around $1000 on the spot market right now, and was considerably less in the early 90s when the car was made.

IOW: gold-leafing the engine bay with under 1oz (different than a troy ounce, but not by an order of magnitude) would be a rounding error in the price of that car.
