you can get the exhaust up to temp by cruising for a while and get out with your motor running and check to see if the pipe before the cat is glowwing (best done at night) and if it is then your cat may be clogged. Another test is you can drill a hole in the exhaust before the cat and see if it runs better and if so mmost likely a clogged cat and get it changed and the hole welded shut.

my god, stop drilling holes in shit or removing exhaust. Unscrew your precat o2 sensor and install a backpressure gauge. There is almost alwyas a factory spec for this. Please tell me you dont actually drill holes in shit your trying to diagnose???

If you had a bad cat youd more than likely throw a check engine light. Have you ever adjusted the valves on this car? Change where youve been getting your gas lately?

i havn't personally done it but i've heard of people doing it with success. It would be alot easier than pulling the o2 IMO. I've never had luck with those comming out very easily.

I have never had a issue taking 02 sensors out. Its all about having right tools.

either way, the description of whats wrong is far to vague to give any kind of proper diagnosis. what kind of noise does the car make.

an impact wrench and o2 sockets aren't proper equipment? it was as stuborn as some of the people on here. Tried everything and we finally used a torch and got it out. Took about 2 hours just to pull the original and maybe 30 seconds to screw in the new one LOL

thanks for the replies, as far as the backpressure gauge, im not exactly sure where or what i need. The car has roughly 160k on it...could it just be the cat?

Ill check tonight if the catalytic converter is glowing after running it for a while tonight

                  RSX TYPE S...HAS FINALLY COME.

some people should remember back to when they first got into cars and quit saying things about others that applied to them at one point. Everyone has to start somewhere and not everyones parents were into cars so they weren't able to get the headstart at the age of 5. Most people have to wait untill they get a car of their own to start working and learning.

There is a simple solution for that....don't give advice. Just listen.

At first I did it for fun, then I realized I made the investment and had to do it!

Even when you think you know almost all there is to know about cars, you don't. Being in the field you learn that pretty early on.

Is it a 5 speed? It could be transmission noise, maybe time to change the trans lube.
The difference sheeran is that even when we didn't know a coolant hose from an exhaust pipe we knew when to stop yapping and listen.
