    I posted this quote on a political forum, asking the same question. I'm curious what you guys think.

          I'd have to agree with that statement as well. I don't know how to go about putting that genie back in the bottle though as there are already too many people that rely on government services. Romney was right that many (not all) of them vote democrat. Where he messed up was saying that he doesn't worry about them. Some of the poorest people I know are died in wool conservatives and vote republican every single time.... but that comment about "not worrying about them" (paraphrased, I know... but that is what they remembered hearing) voted either for Johnson or BHO or didn't vote at all. Anyway, that just proves the point that people vote for who will benefit them, not the country as a whole.

                Oh, I know what he meant (see the sentence after the one you quoted). I think you'd be surprised how many people "on the system" in ND vote republican. Go to any small town bar/cafe/restaurant in ND where there is an elderly population collecting SS/Medicare and not currently paying any taxes and ask how many of them are democrats. I'll be surprised if in 30 bars/restaurants you find 10 people who identify as Dems.

                    I think it will be more likely that the inevitable spending cutbacks and tax hikes would cause revolution when people aren't getting what they think they are entitled to anymore, as opposed to a "pre-revolution" if you will where part of america said "This path of spending is unsustainable and we are going to separate ourselves from this runaway train before it crashes. And it will indeed crash."
