    would exhibition driving be a simliar violation to what the insurance companys letter said (01-11-05 Racing or Participating in Any Matter in Race)

      does anyone know if exhibition driving is revving your engine or excessive engine noise, if anyone does please tell me before tuesday, cause i have a court date for it on tuesday.

        ask them what the law is for DB on the "engine noise" and let them know they are free to bring their meter and test your car anytime anywhere.

        ^worked for me more then once regarding muffler(funny story) and bump in the trunk^

          see i asked the police department on wednesday if they could db my car and they said no we only do that for industrial businesses. I was like WHAT??!! so yea

            ^thats what I was told^....so define "loud engine noise." If they are gonna ticket you for something without written guidelines that apply to everyone across the board then your fine will be thrown out or reduced. The cop just told me to have a nice day:)

              so when i go to court what should i say? Ask them to define loud engine noise?

                Just agrue with em. There is no written law that says that your can only be "this" loud.

                    11-0203. Unlawful noise--Determination.--The standards which shall be considered in determining whether a violation of  11-0202 exists shall include, but shall not be limited, to the following:

                    A. The volume of the noise.

                    B. The intensity of the noise.

                    C. Whether the nature of the noise is usual or unusual.

                    D. Whether the origin of the noise is natural or unnatural.

                    E. The volume and intensity of the background noise, if any.

                    F. Within the central business district (area bounded by First Avenue South, Seventh Avenue North, Fourth Street and Eighth Street), the following noises between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. are specifically prohibited:

                    1. Radios, tape players or other sound amplifiers, whether portable or installed in vehicles, at a level which can be heard by a person more than 10 feet away from said vehicle or amplifier.

                    2. Any horn, bell or other noise-making device except emergency warning devices.

                    3. Shouting or yelling where the voice is clearly audible at a distance of more than 10 feet.

                    Maximum number of decibels permitted from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., daily 55 65 80

                    Maximum number of decibels permitted from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. of the following day 50 60 75

                    TABLE 2. LIMITING NOISE LEVELS FOR MOTOR VEHICLES

                    A. Trucks, buses, construction equipment, or any motor vehicle with a gross weight rating of 10,000 pounds or more: Maximum allowable limit: 88 dB(A) measured at or corrected to 25 feet.

                    B. Passenger cars, pickups, vans, motorcycles, snowmobiles, or any motor vehicle with a gross weight rating less than 10,000 pounds: Maximum allowable limit: 80 dB(A) measured at or corrected to 25 feet.

                    C. Interstate Motor Carrier:

                    Maximum allowable limit:

                    1. 92 dB(A) measured at or corrected to 25 feet when traveling on roadways with speed limits of 35 mph or less.

                    2. 92 dB(A) measured at or corrected to 25 feet when traveling on roadways with speed limits of more than 35 mph.

                      you made me curious so I checked..and that is news to me.

                      I doubt your car is louder then 80db at 25 ft....

                        dahl tried to give me a exibition friving ticket this spring for going around a courner and my front kicking up sand, and su[pposedly leaving black marks w/ all for tires. and i was going under 5mph and barely acclerating. if i got the ticket i would have fought it, he went through the garage to basement.

                        PM me for:
                        Sandblasting(I use glass beads)
                        Diesel repairs or performance products.
