blow off valve

my diverter valve (like a BOV except dumps the air back into the intake after the MAF) sounds nifty

Blow off valves arent meant to be cool sounding their meant for performance.i dont know if i would call them a performance mod there more just to save your turbo a little longer

The best sounding BOV or the loudest? Turbo XS RFL... but its not made for performance but if you want to pickup those 15 year old girls...the best sounding

Alot of BOV's sound different... Greddy Type - S can be adjusted to "stutter", Turbo XS RFL have a piercing PSSSHHHT sound. I dunno, I have clips on my other computer, I'll post them tomorrow.
Its bad when you go around making BOV noises though.... vrrrooooom psssht. I do.

There is a large difference between BOV's... beside the sound; and yes they do affect performance.like do they add hp or what?

i try making 97 GS-T spyda noises, but their to far behind so i can't hear them.

it is? when

PLEASE don't EVER buy a TurboXS BOV. They are total garbage. Just stick with a Greddy, HKS, Tial or Blitz. If the sounds really matter that much, do a search on some of the DSM forums, someone had a page with a bunch of different sound files and vids of different BOV's.

a bov (various names, diverter valve being one) is designed to relieve pressure between shifts or when the throttle is closed abruptly, thus saving excess wear on the throttle body and the turbo.
they can affect preformance (positively or negatively) by either venting or recirculating. venting is releasing the pressurized air to the atmosphere, and recirculating pushes the air back in (generally) behind the mas (mass air sensor) to help keep the turbo from losing momentum between shifts.
if you're really hung up on the sound of your bov, don't bother boosting your engine, you more than likely won't be able to hear much more than a pah (yes, pah with a very quiet "p") inside the car. in addition, if you just want to suprise people with a weird sound your car makes... pull it out of gear and then slam it back into gear without the touching the clutch or the gas pedal. -
the txs bov is good IF you keep it clean and free from gunk.
