So, where could I get Delrin bushings made...
-
Just curious if anyone knows a dude/shop/place who can get me a set of delrin bushings made?
I know a fella on the Audi forum I frequent got a set of four made up for about $100 and I'm looking to spin up about 8-10 for my car, since 4 of the bushings are NLA, and the other ones are bloody expensive, and suck pretty badly anyway.
I will likely spin up a design in Pro-E and get that ready when I find someone who can do it. Also have the parts to test fit them, and I have a press and everything in my shop... So I'd prefer to work with the actual fabricator/machinist if someone knows a guy?

if you could get a measurement, my Girlfriends grandpa has a manual lathe and he might be able to spin em for you if you could find the chunks of delrin.Sounds fun. I'll see what I can get done, and when. This is going to be one of those slow-on-the-weekends-in-my-garage
projects, but I can get everything measured with my mic's and get it into pro engineer and go from there. sourcing delrin should be easy as well I figure.** here's a start. If you check the bottom, they offer 6inch tubes of delrin in various I/D and O/D's. All I need is a Max O.D. and shoot a bit higher than that, and we are good to go I

I think he would try to do anything, and i think he could make anything in that garage of his, haha
hell he machined my little old T04e 57trim to accept a big T04r wheel like nothing... dirt cheap and a hell of a cool guy

If you model it, I can assign a part number and shuffle it through our production line pretty easily, otherwise if a standard heavy lathe will work I could turn some out quickly. What shop you at? Sorry, I'm new.
I've got a lot of school to catch up on. I can make two of the bushings relatively easy since I have them in my garage. Need to pull both subframes to get all 8 bushings measured out.
I have a template I made and saved in Pro-E today for all of the bushings, so all I have to do is go in and edit the dimensions in inches, and throw them into a standard engineering 3 face layout with an iso view and I'll be set. That could take some time though, as I need to measure every bushing a few times with gauges, and I'm slow.
Looking to do two piece press-fit bushings possibly with a center steel insert. just like this
