I agree w/ Eurofan on so many fronts on this. Now, I'm not saying every Mercedes/BMW/Audi/etc.. is unbelievably cool/fast/whatever, but (generally speaking) they do have an advantage over many of the japanese cars that were talked about in that they are not wrong wheel drive (aka FWD), but are instead RWD/AWD a lot of the time.

Yes, the S2K, Miata, WRX/STi, Evo, Genesis, etc... are great cars and probably even better around the track than similarly priced German cars, but you can't really argue that even a base 3 series won't outperform a base Civic/Accord/Camry and probably even IS300 (which is the closest of the group to being in the same category as a 3 series). But we are comparing to apples to sasquatches at that point as they really aren't on the same playing field....in fact Japan (for the most part) doesn't really even have a luxury sport car to compete with the M3 that I can think of (and I'm sure I probably forgot some which will be pointed out to me).

I think that is what Eurofan and thrash were talking about.

I have a bone stock pop can (aside from coilovers) that you are welcome to race 🙂 It's not a Honda though....

Bingo, that is the finishing touch right there. People with BMW's, Porches, etc do. With the exception of the mazda miata, which has its own weekend racing series, there really isn't many people racing stock Japanese cars. Putting in safety gear does not count as modifying. Think maybe there is a reason for that? I have kinda been sitting on the fence this whole thread and both sides have a point, since like the miata there are exceptions. I tried to guide the arguements into specifics since I can't really multitask on my blackberry very well. Concentrating on two manufacturers and their respective model lineup can make this go a lot faster.
                                  Nissan vs BMW
                                  Maxima vs 5 series
And yes the maxima costs less than a 5 series, but with Nissans new "four door sports car" advertising they are trying to compete directly with the bimmer. Pretty sure the 5 series is the better car here especially on the track.
                                  370Z vs 1 series
All the reviews I have read comparing the two have the Z as the faster car
                                  Altima vs 3 series
Umm no comparison as far as track manners are concerned.
                                  Mini vs Sentra
Lmfao one is fun and cute the other is a breadbox with wheels
I tried to match up similar cars in the case of the Z and the 1 series they are actually pretty closely priced, that being said however it comes out 3 to 1 BMW. Hardly an every euro is better situation and in the case of the two door sporty/reasonably priced car category, IMO the one that matters most, the Germans fell short.

Most of your comparision is FWD cars from one company and RWD from another... not exactly a very good comparison there either...

its obvious none of us are going to change the other ones mind. even though your arguments are funny because you never come up with factual numbers about how the majority of street driven euro cars would stomp street driven jdm cars.(which is exactly what you said to start thsi whole thing).. you just keep arguing and using your opinion. this is pointless and i cant handle debating with someone who doesn't know how.

how do i earn my euro toolshed douchebag badge?

Doesn't that tell you something right there?

BMW has never put a BMW badge on a FWD car for sale anywhere in the world.
