Maybe a dumb question but if you play a regular dvd in a blu ray player will it upconvert it as best it can? Or will they not even play them?

As far as paying too much, I've been noticing that new releases have been coming out at $20 (The Hangover, Star Trek, etc) and then will sometimes go up to $30 after the first week. You can also find really great deals on Amazon. They've had deals in the past where you can get something like 7 or 8 movies for $75. I also generally watch the Sunday ads to see what deals they have on blu rays. You can find $10 movies fairly easily. Just takes patience.
I think demand has gone way up. I tried finding The Hangover before Christmas and every single store in town was sold out. If Best Buy didn't get a shipment of them on Christmas Eve, I would have been out of luck. The stores have been underestimating blu ray demand. Plus players are getting a lot cheaper so a hell of a lot more people are buying them.

Yep, and I'm fairly certain a shitload of people were given plays for christmas because the bluray selection has been depleted every store I've tried to buy some at after Christmas.

walmart new releases are $20 now.I'll keep that in mind, $20 I can do for a new release, I spend that much on a DVD most of the time anyway.
