Back on topic, preproduction 2011 Mustang made 395 whp on a dynojet, and I read that some shops think that ~500 whp may be achievable with just a reflash. I must say, Im pretty impressed.

An increase of more than 25% of whp with just reprogramming of the computer? If you can get that, the stock ECU is very poorly tuned.

                      Welcome to modern cars.....

100% stock EVO X gained 32% peak hp (even more in the midrange) with just reflashing.

there is a hell of a lot of difference between a boosted and NA setup, you know that

the factory tuned ecu is for emissions and fuel economy... not 32% more hp

Getcher green hat, we are goin fishin.

Granted, just saying it is possible. I have seen many other cars pick up 10+% NA. Conservative factory tunes, especially with variable cam timing leave a lot to be gained on many cars. I could care less what they make, i will never own a mustang, just adding information I have seen from others as to the capabilities of the car. No one knows exactly what it will do yet till its tested.

If you take a boosted car and increase the boost, you should make more power. If you don't, there is something wrong. I'd like to see numbers where they aren't increasing the boost to create more power. That wasn't just a remap of the fuel curve.

Yeah, I would have to agree. Factory tunes are ridiculously conservative.

Same with 2008+ STi's, they have been known to increase WHP by 55 and WTQ by 60HP on a fairly conservative reflash.

He didn't increase boost, he straightened out the fueling and mivec, and got it to hold steady boost rather than dropping off. I never claimed any different, just showed an example of a car gaining 32-38%. It is common knowledge factory tunes are very conservative, especially on boosted cars, but even N/A can gain decent power with fueling, and especially variable cam timing adjustments.
