first mistake, purchasing a VW, second mistake getting any non warranty/non recall work done at a dealership (esp. valley imports)

      Sucks, but lesson learned.

First mistake, posting in this thread. I didn't ask for any opinions. GTFO

I know some guys that work in parts over there...I'll give them a call, but doubt I'll be able to learn much. I'll see what I can do, though...

That Nissan has come a long way, btw. Nice work.

Thank you. I just wanna make sure they aren't just making it up. If it's gotta be fixed it's gotta be fixed. I guess now they are trying to cut my dad a deal and somehow knocked off a few thousand. It just seems shady as hell. It's a dark blue toaureg BTW

Remind me NEVER to buy a VW/Audi. What kind of a piece of shit requires $4600 worth of timing belt service at 80k? Might as well drive an American car and just replace the whole engine as preventative maintenance at 80k and still be ahead.

IIRC Shop labor rate there is $150-200+ so i can see anything you let them touch get expensive. I remember a thread on hear earlier about someones family member getting charged $250 for an oil change.

just a wild ass guess since you weren't positive what year I went with a 2005...labor time on it is 8.0 hrs for timing belt, cam seals, timing drive pulley, timing idler pulley, timing tensioner, and water pump....which at $200/hr labor would be $1600, so either their parts are more rediculous than they have ever been (doubtful) or they are screwing you from the get-go. And now they have added an r/r engine to "de-sludge" it...come on now man.

Tell me what year/engine it is, what all they are doing exactly, and what parts they are replacing and I'll tell you how bad your dad is getting screwed. (i'll even tell you with their labor rate/retail part prices)

Hey everyone....Anonymously tell joel what you really think of him
