New BlackBerry?

Wes, your argument for that would be great except for one small thing...not just anyone can make an app for the iphone platform. They have WAY more restrictions, in the fact that the app cant be...shit. Unlike droid. I hate downloading apps and having them be complete shit.

Thats why I use reviews and people in the know to weed through all the BS apps before I DL them. I am merely stating what I have observed. Im not saying it is gosphel but, it is valid. -

iPhone 4 FTW. I heard a rumor that Blackberry Messenger is going to be available for android and iPhone in the near future. There is an application called something like PinChat that you can download on almost any smart phone that is almost exactly like BBM. BBM is the only reason I still have a BlackBerry. If BlackBerry started making a BBM applications for other phones, then I would go get a Driod phone. I'm waiting for the Bionic tho.

iPhone fans better be getting their plans and phones now; Verizon is planning to cut the unlimited data plan to iPhones this summer and use a pro-rated plan like they use with the Xoom. I hope they don't start cutting Android plans and pro-rating them...If so, Sprint will have another customer come end of my contract.

Unlimited data is a thing of the past.

Sprint (clearwire) has been known to throttle bandwidth back after a few gb of usage, to almost nothing, there is a lawsuit open for this, and I heard it's gotten better.
But honestly, how the hell do you use more then 5gb in a month unless you are tethering?
-
I do tether. I would venture to guess I use around 15GB/mo on average (tethering and usage on phone included). I do notice after about 5GB that my speed is throttled down, but better that than nothing. One other thing I should note is that I normally only tether between midnight and 7am, during non-peak usage times.

if you are using 15gb a month on a $20 data plan thn i hope you and all of the iphone users DO go to somewhere else. i use about 100mb a month and it would be nice if it worked better thn a dial up connection on the rare occasions i actually need it.

LOL I wouldn't have the patience to download 15gb on 3g speeds.I could see how Torbs did it, back when I had my HTC Diamond I would pretty much leave my phone permanently tethered to my laptop via bluetooth or usb. I managed 3-4GB per month during that time because I heard Sprint flagged your account after 5GB, so I stopped using data around then. This was just casual web browsing, youtube, light downloads, etc. It would get easy to get +5GB if you started leaving torrents open overnight, I usually got speeds of around 2.5mbps on Sprint EVDO 3g.
But yeah, you definitely don't reach more than 1GB on a phone alone. It's not too hard when you are surfing on your laptop though.

Also, the data plan is $30

Keep in mind I primarily tether (I'd say 90%+ of the time) between the hours of midnight to 7am, which are non-peak hours. I don't really download files a whole lot; just a lot of browsing, youtube, other streams (i.e. hulu or other streaming tv shows)...I also stream Pandora when working out and when I'm out and about. Internet at work only runs about 0.4mb down and 0.3mb up so even if I get a 1-1.5MB connection after going over 5gb it's still better than using work's internet. The only time I ever tether during the day is if Cable One fails me at home or I'm on a road trip, which hasn't happened as of late.

Android's for me as well. My personal phone (Evo4g - Sprint PCS) is my favorite thus far, followed by the Droid X that I use for work (VZW). I seriously contemplated buying an Ipad, but I had a HORRIBLE experience w/ TWO Imacs in a row (one wouldn't eject the disc and the second wouldn't stop emitting smoke....oh, and both were less than one day old) leading me to realize why I had avoided apple for all these years. But anyway, back on topic......Of all the phones that I've had over the years from the MotoQ to BB to HTC 6600 to Droid/Droid2 to Moment to Hero to Evo to Droid X, the Evo is by far my favorite....especially when rooted w/ a custom rom (I use Myn's "warm twopointtwo") and overclocked.
My essential apps (fun and work) for the androids:
ROOT THE DEVICE and run a custom kernel of your choice (Myn, Cyanogen, Damage Control, MikFroyo, etc...) http://theunlockr.com/category/roms-2/android-roms-2/htc-evo-roms/
adfree
Adobe Air
Angry Birds
Apps2SD
Appbrain
Slide Android Market
Astro
Camera360
DoubleTwist (similar to Ipod controls)
Droidin (linkedin app)
ES File Explorer
Friend Stream
Gas Buddy
Gtunes (who needs Itunes?)
History Eraser
Mega Jump
NinJump
ROM Manager
Smart Coach (athletic trainer software)
TuneIn Radio
Wireless Tether

If anyone wanted Android I would say that phone would be the way to go. I am using the HTC Desire HD, which is a clone but I still miss my EVO. Hands down the best phone on Sprint, and probably Android phone overall. Can't beat video calling or webcam'ing with friends on the go.
