August 27th Tintmasters Street Legal Roll Call

I think the Quick 8's are being run well and the rules work nicely. Have to keep it simple. I think I will try find a white board to donate for these events so we can see a board with Quick 8 updates. Keep it up.

I think the Quick8's are fine as-is, but it'd be fun to have something for us slower guys. As it goes now we're pretty much just racing against the clock. It'd be nice to get lined up in groups running similar ETs.

name one car that has competed in the Q8 that is a track only car or one that wouldn't make it 30 miles on the street??
its great just the way it is, and alot of fun
dont like it, go faster
and i think slicks have to be allowed, the faster cars would be tearing the crap out of the track using radials when they are not setup for them
i know I took a chunk out once or twice on the radials, and felt badI wasn't saying that any of the cars that I have seen in the Q8s wouldnt make it! It's something that I have read and seen done at bigger tracks and thought it was kind of cool. Of course they have more cars (like hundred or so at the bigger events). They have a winner in each second class, like a 8 sec, 9 sec and so on. We are only dealing with 8 cars so its not going to happen but I thought that I would just put it out there to see if they could think out side of the box and get a few different things in there. I also like the fact that slick are in the groove only the track is amazing. Last year I couldn't leave hard at all!

Charge a nominal fee and have some of/all of the proceeds go to the winner. Then you'd see the guys who know what their car can do run their cars as consistently as they can and have something to race for?
I know bracket racing isn't the "fun" way to race, but it really puts the pressure on the driver to be consistent and it levels the playing field.
Just a thought.... I obviously have no control over what track does for events, just adding an option to the conversation.

Brackets or an Index class might be interesting, but that of course means having someone willing to run it.

I think brackets would be fun.

I am wondering why the original Quick 8 rules have been modified.
http://www.fargostreet.com/forums/showthread.php?19392-Quick-8-the-Street-LegalsWhen you guys brought that up I started looking for that thread but I couldn't track it down from my phone at the track and Ethan and I just couldn't remember. I do think the decision to cut it off at 28x10 last weekend was the right one since that's what was on the rule handouts.

Heres something, not sure how it would work but the cars are suppose to be street legal, right? We take the cars that have insurance, current tabs, and a dot approved tire (limited size maybe?), and take these cars on a 20 to 30 mile drive see if they make it. Allow for a short cool down, make one run, to see were they land in the standings. Then set up the bracket and do the runs for the winner. O and the last time the cars are able to be touch is before the 20 to 30 mile run. After that any hoods opened or any programing done will disqualify the car and driver! I would say tire pressure would be ok to change but that would be about all you could change once they are started. It could be fun to do, but a lot of work/planning/etc, so maybe a once a year thing as part of the 2 day event or something. Also, the FWD cars wouldn't stand a chance obviously, unless they take there slicks out on the road, and even some of the RWD cars would have trouble, so I think a tire change will need to be allowed.

You could make a loop through Sabin, everyone has to leave their car running outside the Crow Bar while you go in and slam 4 beers, then head back to the track. That would be the sign of a true street car.
We could have a side bet and see who can slam their 4 beers the fastest!

Consistency wasn't exactly my strong suit, lol... But I'd still be down for some heads up racing against other 14.xx cars. Make it cheap enough for us rooks, $10 buy-in maybe.
