      Heres my opinions.

Some people like show, and some like go. Personally I like the show more than the go. Why? because i dont have the tools, time, or knowledge to be installing megasquirt, lsd tranny, ect...

I only have a few mods that are perfomance, I have pretty much everything done aesthetic. CF hood, Bodykit, rims, interior, Bixenon projector headlights, ect.... (i did remove and fill the spoiler holes)

If that make me rice then whatever. Check my sig.

I drive a Mazda, how much more rice do you want??

It doesn't matter what type of bodykit/wing, if the car looks clean= not rice. For instance, Trevor's orange cavalier, eventhough it was a cavy, it looked very clean and nice. A maroon Breeze with grey bodykit held up by bungy rope, and a LC plate that says ALLSHOW= major rice.

I like a little raw fish with my rice, and just a little bit of wasabi. Friggn love that stuff.
I also need a little bit of show with the go. Try and keep it clean and keep the mods intune with the spirit of the car.

as long as it looks good, its alright in my book. its people who take a shitty beat up car and put the biggest wing they can find on it to make it look 'cool' that piss me off. especially when theyre also weaving through traffic at twice the speed limit.

your car is fucking sweet chuck. if i had the money id probably be doing close to the same thing.

just bought it tonight, going un painted.

am i considered rice to you? my wing is ginormous to.

man, I'm envious. We (Tbird guys) can't even get a fiberglass hood w/o shipping for the price you're getting that CF hood for (and that's not even a finished underside). CF hood will probably run us $900 if we want one. (glass hoods are running $400+ for the new company making them, was $600+ for the old company IIRC)

I'm all about CF myself, painted or not - especially if it is installed for the lightweight factors.

(Although I will admit I"m not a fan of Chucks style of hood, but the CF aspect of it is nice.)

Quotes like that I can respect. I just wasn't a fan of the OEM looking hoods. I opted for something more aggressive...and I don't think anyone is going to say that this hood isn't more aggressive.

I'm guessing it is due to limited demand and only 1 or 2 suppliers.

You were just lucky you bought you STi when prices for subaru parts finally came down to an acceptable level...just ask Shane what he paid for his VF34 turbo, STi injectors, etc, etc, etc...

exactly what chuck said... There is very little demand for aftermarket pieces for these cars. We had 2 fiberglass hood dealers for a while, 1 was actually making 2 different styles as well. Both compaines ended up with really really bad reputations about lack of quality (people who order a hood from them know to have $1000 standing by to fix the hood when they get it. Guys have spend horrible amounts of money to get those hoods fitting correctly and looking right)

Only fiberglass hood dealer with any reputation anymore is cervinnis, however they only make a hood for the 89-93 birds. (the 2 noted above only made hoods for the 94-97 birds)

But yeah, the CF hoods we'll have available are being made on a per-order basis so that doesn't help costs.
                            http://www.vfnfiberglass.com/9697tbird.htm
(they don't have the CF hood listed but were mentioning it earlier during the design process)

However it's the way everything is for these cars. It doesn't help that Modular Ford parts are stupidly expensive to begin with, but anyting specialty for the Tbird/Cougar/MarkVIII is just escalated that much more due to very little demand. (hell, we just lost our only bolt-on supercharger manufacturer because they weren't selling enough units). coated mid-length headers running $750, full exhuast was up around $1000 but it's come down now... I think the only reasonable aftermarket piece we can get is the Disc Brakes R-Us 13" rotor, 2POT PBR caliper kit for $450. However anything else, even a 4POT brake setup will run us $2200. Sucks when I can look at Mustang/Fbody parts and pay half price for both headers and big brake kits if I had one of those vehicles.

why not just contact a manufacturer like phoenix industries in crookston to make carbon fiber/fiberglass pieces for you guys? If you can get 10 people together its actually pretty affordable.

This is by no means a burn, and I was thinking about going with a carbon fiber hood also, but if you do the research, the stock STi hood is actually lighter than most quality carbon fiber hoods.

                                  Just my $.02 🙂

I was quoted $6000 to $8000 for the FIRST full one piece carbon fiber front end, and about $1500 a piece after that....a simple hood should be much cheaper.
