What problems has she encountered? There are always problems with many different vehicles (intake mani leaks GMs, Ford DPFE sensors/switches, Toyota oil slugging, Chrysler electrical) that are just considered wear and tear. A recall only happens if there are:

Large number of vehicles with the problem
                  Production problems
                  Potential safety
                  Potential emissions

Yes, they have many recalls for that vehcile, but if the vehicle makes the 3/36 then the manufacture considers that it is a good vehcile and shouldn't have any problems....

I can list quite a few problems with those:
                  Front swaybar bushings (clunking noise)
                  Front swaybar links (clunking noise)
                  Rack-n-pinions (leaks)
Tie rods (both inner and outer)
Water pumps (leaking at weap holes)
                  Transmission failure
                  and many more

All of those problems are considered wear and tear and are usually not even covered under warranty. The Rack and Tranny issues are usually backed up with the defense of not changing the fluid enough. We recommend flushing transmission fluids every 30K and 24K for PS systems. Suspension parts are always wear and tear unless they discover a problem (ball joints on Durango/Dakotas, Steering knuckles on Durangos.

Let me know what problems there are and I can help you know if they are common or not.

Well some of it is just stupid stuff that probably wouldn't get covered anyways BUT ...since the first year she had it the brakes have been noisey as hell, especially in winter. No amount of lube or anything on our part has helped and every time we take it in they say there is nothing wrong or rubbing or anything. The struts are bad, the motors in the doors have broken twice now, we got one fixed under warranty and now it's really flakey again. The rear door doesn't work all the time, the locks don't always work right from the inside, the clock spring for the airbags broke at least 5 times in the first 3 years we owned it (all were covered under warranty though). I dunno, various things, some of which I can't remember right now.

Those are all common problems with them:
                              Brakes are always noisy, period.
Struts should be replaced for Prevenative Maint around 60-70K, unless driven only on highway.
Sliding door motors and harnesses go out all the time.
Dont get me started on the rear door....the outside switch corrodes, latch switch/motor, motor to lift/close.
BCM for the locks (although they have a flash available, they still go bad)
Depending on what year, the clockspring might have a lifetime warranty, have a big recall on those.

What exactly is wrong with the struts? I have a lot of people complaining of clunking in the front and think that it is the struts but it is just the swaybar bushings and links.

Hope that helps, and although it is a pain in the ass to deal with these problems, the parts are actually really cheap and VERY easy to install.

Once again i'm not sure but I do remember her getting a quote from them on the struts/whatever up front for around $800 so she has just been driving around with a noisey front end. Not sure what exactly the parts were but i'm thinking they said it was struts and possibly bushings...don't quote me on that though. Any sort of bump makes the front end sound like it's about ready to fall off though, especially when it's cold.

Dude, struts are easy to do. Buy some strutrs from the parts store of your choice, rent a spring compressor and go to town. Get an alignment after you're done and thats it.

As far as all the parts that need to be replaced, it might be wise to look into parts that have a lifetime warranty. I know that Checker on Main has lifetime warrantys on their window motors so they might offer lifetime warrantys on the door motors and switches.

I'm a Commercial Loan Documentation Review Specialist at Bank of the West as well as being a wife to tjamz (really, I should get paid for that) and mother to our little boy.

damn that ends up being like 5 full time jobs, ur husband being 3 of them....

LIFE'S JOURNEY IS NOT TO ARRIVE AT THE GRAVE IN A WELL PRESERVED BODY, BUT RATHER TO SKID IN SIDEWAYS, TOTALLY WORN OUT, SHOUTING ' HOLY SHIT.....WHAT A RIDE'
