roll cage in 65 mustang coupeI was thinking more the autocross route for tracking; it'd be more fun. I have looked around a little for cages online, but those are mostly for the fastbacks. Also, it would likely be the half cage, for aesthetics as well as not wanting to completely tear up the car, or wear a helmet. That was a good point.

roll cage in 65 mustang coupeHello,
I have a 65 mustang coupe that I pretty much dd. However, I want to convert it to more of a weekend car that I can track as well as upping the safety quotient. One of the things that I would like to do is add racing seats, 3 or 4 point harnesses, and a roll cage or bar to attach the harness to, as well as stiffen the chassis. It doesn't need to be a full cage though; more of a half- from the mid to the back.
I don't have the skills or the equipment to be able to do this myself, so where would be a good place to take it? I don't really care to leave the rear seats in, but I would like the possibility of returning it to "stock" in the future.
Currently, the only safety equipment is lap belts in the front.
Last thing, and most obviously, I'd like it to look good. Whoever ends up doing it will obviously do good work, but I do plan on showing it sometime in the future.
Thank you,
Chriscliffs: place to buy/fabricate and install :racing seats, 3/4 point harness/ and trackable/streetable rollcage for a 65 mustang.

6.5" speakersI'm getting the '65 mustang back today, hopefully fully fixed. A future project in the planning stage is upgrading the sound system. It currently just has an old alpine head unit and alpine type S 6x9 speakers in the back. And that is it. I think the head unit will suffice for a bit, but I want to add some 6.5" speakers into the kick panels. Any suggestions? and I'm sure that someone will say to ask chuck. I'm looking for something to add a bit of sound and mid/bass to the front. I'm limited to about 3" of depth and somewhere around $60-90. I don't need something phenomenal.
Thanks

Thats your problem, but really I think your running her a little rich.
I know it's a small engine, but it has gotten significantly worse. I just wanted it back to normal. And yes. I am sure that the 650 is a bit big. But that was what I installed when I was 16, so that is what I have to work with.
Ruthless351, If you have the time, I would greatly appreciate if you took a look at it. If that is the problem, tuning would save me a lot of money and time. Or if you know a place to take it to get tuned, that would work as well.

Shop?not using points, I am not sure about the carb work because it has been in and out of shops, but I kind of doubt it. The carb works well enough to drive it and that's about it. I also doubt that the valves have been adjusted, but I don't have any idea. I'm just running 87 pump gas and running seafoam through it every once in a while.
Other problems that came to mind- mild leak between the water pump and thermostat and the black. I also usually go through at least one starter solenoid a summer.

Shop?I have a '65 mustang with a 4.7 L 289 that is having some issues. Meaning, it completely lost its balls. I have taken it to at least 3 different mechanics in fargo and it has not gotten any better. Ford helped a little bit, but I still have trouble getting to 65MPH or breaking the rear end loose at all.
Does anyone know a good place to take it who would know about classic V8s? It isn't really that modified, just has a new cooling system, headers, shelby style side exit exhaust, an edelbrock hi-rise intake manifold, and a holley 650 carb, if that helps at all. I'm kind of sick of not being able to drive it how I want to.

HiIt is definitely a project car, but it will hopefully be driveable again soon. It's white with a 1275 cc engine and a full roll cage. And it literally has go cart seats. 10x5" rims and a 5.5 gallon gas tank. I can't wait until I get it repaired enough to daily.

HiHowdy. I've been on here for a while and probably have a few other usernames, but I don't remember them. I do know a few of you. I have an 01 silver civic, a green 65 mustang, and a mostly white 79 Austin Mini project car. If anyone would be willing to help me fix up the mini, that would be awesome.
Oh ya. I'm Chris by the way.
