Performance Enthusiest Lack In ND

I never said anything about being ricey at all, I just said the older guys will give you shit because you are the younger guy. It happened to me and I'm sure it happened to most people that are now in the "older" guy crowd. It just gave me motivation to prove them wrong and show I'm for real. Too mant people do it for just the attention and thats the wrong reason to do it.

I guess i cant say much about the scene dying because i havent been around the scene there at all this year considering I moved 8 hours away. Im sure that makes most of you happy that I am gone finally cuz. But I do agree that people should welcome others more. Yeah I dont have a 300+hp car or anything special. But that shouldnt mean I cant be welcomed by the ppl who do have such a car. I have felt in the past that I wasnt welcome at all. Every time i opened my mouth I got bashed every time. There was a time that a few of you talked to me. I wont say names cuz the few of you should know who you are. I really love it when ppl are nice to you in person but the rest of the time they are to good for you. Say if someone is alone they will talk you but when they are around the bigger guys(shop guys) its like you dont exsist cuz they have to have their reputation stay up.If everyone could get along I think it would be better. The scene here pretty much sucks to. Auto x is a big thing here cuz we only have the 1/8th mile in sturgis and its to expesnive to drive to sioux falls to race.
Most of you say you are just giving me shit about everything all the time. But why is it that you have to do such a thing. Why cant you all just be honest and helpful instead of asses so much. I have never met 90% of you that talk shit to me on here. I have no reason to get treated the way I do,
Maybe that could change also
k you have my pity -

and on another note...
I'm not really sure why the scene has gone downhill. I never really saw what it was like back in the day, so I don't really have anything to compare it to. But if I had to say something about the scene going downhill it would have to be about the word trust and about shops. Anybody getting into the scene to begin with will most likely bring their vehicle some place to be worked on bc they dont know shit about how to work on the car (example, me 3 years ago). It's really disheartening when somebody can spend a lot of money someplace, only to have something taken from them. I'm surprised that I'm still in the scene after that. Shops need to be there to help out people, especially the n00bs. I'm not bringing this up to complain about it all over again or anything. I'm bringing it up because I think it's an important issue. If someone feels as though they got screwed over by a shop, the shop should then try to talk/work with the person. Not simply write them off and say screw you. Treat customers with respect and help them out and I'm sure they will return again for things. Sure, after awhile it won't be for labor or anything bc hopefully they'll be working on their own car (and I think that when people learn how to work on their own car, they will enjoy modding it to make it faster. Most people don't make their car fast and want body kits simply because they dont know what goes on under the hood. With a body kit, it's basically a piece of plasic that goes on the car, something that's viewed as very simple. Most people don't even know what engine is in their car. They don't even want to bother with it because it's viewed as too hard. That's the attitude that needs to change. People need to be shown that making a car decently quick isn't that hard or expensive to do.) But for parts or other random things the person will be glad to return their business because they know their money is going towards a good business and good people. Nobody wants to support something that they don't think is a good cause.
my .02
And for the record, I don't have a problem working with anybody from any shop. I simply brought this up because I think it's an important issue and nothing else. So don't take it as anything else.

Before u even bought that car you said u were gonna do a gsr swap right away... Just because u think your car is "JDM" doesnt mean your not a ricer. It's not about what your car looks like... what are your intentions, are you trying to do stuff you like or trying to impress people? -
First off I dont have a fartcan at all. Not even in my owner ship.
Second I would have a GSR but hmm...I think I kinda moved out of home and 600 miles away from fargo. If I had a lil better income I prolly would have something but almost all my money at this moment goes to bills. Not trying to make you guys feel sorry for me cuz it was my own choice to do what I did. And I think my intentions are good. Im not building a hatch to impress anyone obviously becasue what I do around here(well there) never would impress any of you even if I did have a car to keep up with the bigger boys.
So obviously im doing this for myself. I like cars and I want something that is semi fast and fun to drive. I would be happy with a 14 second 1/4

seriously, is all you do is talk about yourself? -
serisouly all you do is bitch so whats the difference
-
Honestly it hink people using the shop as a lack of support is a piss poor excuse but i guess i kinda saw that coming as well as all the comments of everyone not getting a long. But @ that same rate it should bring a long a lot of competetivness but its not. Personally i think we support every track even more then well enough being we show up to every track event and bring a few cars to put on a show when 75% of the time the other shops dont even show up. We travel to other track events all over the midwest, does anyone else even bother to leave the FM area?
Everyone needs to quit making excuses and blaming everyone else for their lack of participation.

I agree, the "shops" is a poor excuse, since a lot of people do a lot of their own work, or even already have a pretty decent car straight out of the factory that they can do some quick-easy mods themselves.
But the question you gotta ask yourself, how are you seeing the scene dead?
Are we talking about slower business at shops? Or are we talking about seeing less cars out n about on the streets? Or the idea that most local events tend to have lesser attendance? I would probably venture to guess that many small factors play into this, but the idea that the event seem to be only promoted on local forums and the feedback on the forums is quite small. I know last year there were a lot of places to stop/meet up in larger groups, for ex: Wal-Mart.. There was always a 9 o'clock meet-up thread at Wal-Mart on nice nights, weekdays/weekends. You see smaller groups cruising now, but nothing like how they were. I think the fact that there isn't any main roads, where a person can stop and chill instead of drive around all over (when gas is $3/gal) would help quite a bit. This way when people are talking about what they ran at iDrags, or whatever, it'll perk more to go, and build more on their car, etc. etc. I think.... Helps people realize people actually prefer/care about performance and strive to become faster. -
The first post of the thread is about the track attendance sucking a big donkey dick. There has been horrible attendence this year and we're not going to have a local track to use anymore if people don't start racing their cars. I don't think it has muck to do with shops getting along, domestics vs imports, or a lack of ricer meets/cruises.

I think we're limited due to the idea it's nearing city limits and also the idea that road construction on highway 9 may end up shutting it down, but that all could be rumors.. Not 100% certain... We'll see in time; may as well use it while we can before it's no more for just in case purposes..

highway 9 is no where even close to the track

Watching a drag race is like watching paint dry. And in terms of participation, once you do a track drag race once there is really no point in racing again. Not all of us have time or money to do modifications each season. Autocrosses are more fun because there is an instrinsic driver value that drag races lack. Any joe with a car can autocross, and could potentially beat a better or newer car. In a drag race, sometimes a better car launching in third gear could smoke the car beside him.
And then there is the factor outside this point. People get jobs, have classes, develop relationships, whatever -- sometimes they don't have time for this stuff anymore. Or sometimes they just grow up or out of cars.

With that being said, I know I struck a nerve when I stated what I see as a problem with the scene in this imediate area. I'm not just trying to isolate and bash the shops. But I do FIRMLY believe that the shops have alot more control/influence than they think. I do think that we (the enthusiast) need to and can contribte as well. What I was getting at was that it would make a real difference if they combined their efforts along with maybe to bring in some autocross events, stereo comps, car shows, dyno days, and general get togethers. Heck even get some car clubs involved as well. Stuff like that is what (I) believe will get the scene started in the right direction.
