Vtec in a 1st gen Crx What??
-
I have been reading a lot of forums about how to get Vtec into my 86 Crx Si but keep getting into the same situation. Parts. Time. Money.
I currently have a D15a3 which is 1488cc
To swap to a B series motor i would need a whole new setup and a lot of $$$.But I currently ran into a forum about a mini me swap which would have me just run a Z6 head on my current motor and wire for vtec, making it ObD-1 and getting a complete head, distributor, intake manifold, P28 ECU, wiring harness, and Z6 timing belt which would be cheaper and quicker
Just wonderin if that would be possible for my 1st gen and if anyone has ideas im open to suggestions. Thanks

the 1st gen integra motor is a pretty direct swap too, if I remember right. ..it may even be the ZC motor, I'd have to look it up.
The guy who MAKES hasport mounts is a member on redpepperracing. yes, they make B-series mounts, and yes, they cost money.
Is yours the red Si on Craigslist right now? or do you have the black one I keep seeing around town? -
the head from a late model d series will not fit on your current motor without major modification. Adding VTEC to a d series motor will not gain that much hp. If you are looking for a fun N/A Car, swap the B. If you are looking for HP, swap a standard D series(d16z6, d16y8) and turbo it.

does any one have anymore info on this swap? looking to do this to mine. also does anyone have a b16 for sale with a trans. mines an '85 crx si.

which swap are you looking to do?
I'm just going to keep redirecting to redpepperracing.com; seriously, it's a forum dedicated to the cars.. and where the hell did you find an 85 si? I'm jealous.
