in my opinion i would go with 50% upfront and 20%in the rear...my $.02

Seriously a 3% percent difference and you get $100 some dollar tick is a little much. Maybe the machine was off. They should have some give.

no way... from the factory the very far rear windows of suvs will maybe be 10%, you will be lucky to get 50% all the way around. anythign darker was done by the dealership to make it sell.

the legal limit isnt 10%... most places the fronts cant be more than 50%. the rear in ND can be whatever but MN will still crack down on you for the rears being to dark.

I used to have 50% on the front two roll downs and 5% the rest of the way back, and was never had any issues with cops anywhere.

Now I have 5% on all four roll downs and 50% on the front (a bit excessive to some but I get extreme migranes from the sun and certain styles of lights). I've been pulled over a few times for it but never a ticket. I just explain to them why I have it and tell them I have no problems with going to court for it (not in a little punk ass way). I know one main reason for getting pulled over too was having powder on my plates for being white, so i just changed em over to NOT OEM.

MN still can be pricks just traveling through too no matter what tint you have.

35% all the way around. DarkDan down in Owatonna did an excellent job and he charges $160 to do Mustangs. I've never been hassled for it either.

I know that guy.. On a forum that's local to an area south of the cities, he posts a lot of his work.. He seems to be pretty good and charges reasonable..

I have like 22% or that is what the meter read, only got 1 ticket but that was when I first went into IOWA, their Tint laws are like no darker than 70%..

If you have like a white car, and dark tint, it'll be more noticeable compared to darker colored cars..

see i don't want to vary the tint. I want the same shade all around. I'm thinking 35% might be the way to go...

Factory tint on GM trucks and SUV somewhere around 25%( I can't remember). My jeep is lighter. I have had 35%(all 5 window) on one car and 20% on 2 vehicles(all 5 windows) I have never got pulled over for tint in any of them. I have been pulled over with tint on and the cop never even said a word about my tint.

So where did you get all this info from? 7% tint would be extremely dark, you must have meant 93%. They measure by how much light passes through the tint/window. The amount of tint in a factory window depends on the car manufacturer. They're not all the same, but they can not be any darker than 70% on the front 2 windows of any vehicle because of state laws. Rear windows on trucks/SUVs are obviously darker in a lot of cases, somewhere around 20% like someone stated.

And no, weather does not have any effect on how your windows will meter. Their tool for measuring that, measures how much light passes through, not how dark the clouds are that day.

My Tintmaster tint job has 30% on the rear windows and 50% on the roll-downs. I haven't been pulled over for anything in over 4 years.

mn is 50% all around. and ND is IIRC, 50% on the roll downs, and behind the drivers door, what ever you want. I personally would not ever go darker then 20%

I could see the weather affecting it slightly. There will obviously be some machine error as well, but, a sunny day there is going to be more ambient light around that could affect the read on the meter.

I don't know, could be other factors like dirty vs. clean window, different meters, shady cop lieing about it. Either way it was over the limit.
